Re: Paddle shifters, just a novelty or useful tool?

I say paddles are great.

Actually the best posiotion is on the columns so they dont move, I have a pair of huge paddles in my Maserati Gran Turismo MC.

I just took my 2012 overland off roading last weekened, and on the technical parts where I was on 4low, rock terrain, and ORII height, I was playing a lot between 1st and 2nd.

Paddles would have been really great for that, as I like driving with both hands on the wheel.

Other then that, the paddles functions just like your regular stick up down, so if the tranny is dumb, you cant expect paddles to make it better.

On the 6 spd we have on the overland with hemi, it would work great.....

They are mounted on the wheel. For me, they are really not convenient when the wheel is turned. I don't miss them on the Jeep.

Yup, column mounted paddles are considered to be better, because they're always at the same location.

You can't speak of such a beautiful car without posting pictures of it. The Gran Turismo is IMO the best looking car on the road.
