Congrats. It tells me you didn't over-spend on this vehicle and living well within your means.

A thirty yr mortgage signed when someone is 26 would be paid off when they are 56.

duh, meant from a financial look, to pay off a car that depreciates instead off putting it to a mortgage

each to his own, might have a reason behind it he hasn't stated..

Re: Paid off

Congrats...although at 1.9% I'm not too worried about paying off my Jeep any time soon.

I'm working on a refinance of my mortgage though...hope to drop the fixed rate by about 1% and pay the loan off a few years earlier. Hopefully it will be worth the hassle.

We refinanced twice over the years. Most beneficial tho was making at least one extra payment (often more) against principal. Saved $$$ in interest and now no more mortgage!

Better to pay no finance charges than get 1/2% return or worse leaving money in the bank...and I won't even touch the option to place money in the casino, er, stock market lately. Some people might be cash rich but still not qualify for a decent loan due to the lunatics running our financial institutions these days, so they pay cash...cash rules.
