Panic Alarms, has any of u ever used it?

Just curious if you or anyone you know has deliberately set off the panic alarm out of necessity? I can't say that I do, but of course this morning i set mine off probably waking up half the neighborhood, while putting on my shoes. I've accidentally set mine off a few times and know many people that have as well. To me, it seems like a waste, I mean if someone starts to get attacked or w/e, are they really gonna want to reach into their pocket/purse, grab the keys and hit the button or are they gonna want to fight or flight? Don't get me wrong either, for the people in my life, I would like them to be able to use it, but with the advent of keyless entry, no one walks to their car with their keys in hand. I personally know that if I'm at the point of needing it, I'm not going to be reaching into my pocket to grab my keys. So back to the question, has anyone actually used the panic button on purpose?

Re: Panic Alarms, has any of u ever used it?

I did a few months ago ... but not for a panic situation.

A friend of mine was rushed to the hospital. I took his wife to the emergency entrance, then parked my car in the multi-level parking garage and ran to see how they were. Once he was out of danger and some of their family members showed up, I figured I would leave. I knew my car was in the parking garage, but had no clue where. I started walking around pressing the button. I found my car pretty quickly.

Bill, u old fart forgetting where u parked. 😀 ( in case the emoji doesn't show up, I'm joking). Thats a great way to locate the car, I've never been in that situation but I can def see how the use of it came in extra handy. Although, I have used the lock/horn sound to locate my car when in Costco like parking lots. In those instances I wish I had a "dam it, this parking lot is a zoo and I can't remember remember my fn parking spot" button.

Re: Panic Alarms, has any of u ever used it?

Thanks for reminding me to disable that wonderful feature. I've accidentally hit it a few times. One of the last times I was reaching in my pocket to get a parking ticket and started hearing an alarm go off as I walked out to the parking garage. I thought to myself, "Wonder which idiot's car that is?" I found out soon enough.

Instead of labeling it "Panic" it should be "Nuisance". Everyone within earshot just ignores it anyway.

I didn't mind it one bit when I forgot where I parked at Hershey Park. :-)

Re: Panic Alarms, has any of u ever used it?

I was told that if you at home and you think that someone is downstairs or prowling around it could be a good deterrent to any would be bad people. It would scare the crap out of them and hopefully make them leave.
It can be a good thing if you need to attract attention in the event of a crash or caught in a snow drift.

Button should be recessed more and harder to depress in order to prevent accidentally setting it off so easily.

The one thing I miss about having an actual key was I was ready if ever needed to protect myself to jab that key right into an attackers carotid artery!

Only used it to keep a dog from peeing on my tire. Other than that, only set it off accidentally when popping open a beer.

Ive never actually used it while panicked.

Maybe the should change it to the 'locate' button.

The only time my "Panic" button gets used is when I can't find where I park. The downside is that unless your on the correct level it may or may not work.
My real panic button is the trigger on a 4.5" Springfield XDM 9mm.
