That is the stupidest implementation of rear seat entertainment I've ever seen. It blocks the rear view mirror! Save the $2 grand and use half to buy 1, 2, or even 3 iPads then Velcro or strap them to the seat back...a WAY better investment that will save you money! Oh and let each kid watch what they want!

I have sunroofs since the 80s. Plus, sunroofs in 5 GC Jeeps. Never, ever a problem.

Agreed, None of mine have given problems and the large Pano Roof was a major selling point for me! Just wish it had 3 sections instead of 2; and had 2 openings, 1 Ft & a tilt up 2nd section in Rr like a cowl vent!

Re: Panoramic Roof

Anyone add extra tint to the sunroof? My friend just did it on her mercedes station wagon and it sounds like an interesting idea.... maybe.

I am going this next week to have the roof tinted. Having suffered from skin cancer for the last few years and the surgeries it is a must for me. I love my roof open but need to darken it. I have read that some of the tints have a very good UV blocking ability so I will be going with one like Formula One.

Re: Panoramic Roof

I realize this is an old thread but I did have a couple questions regarding the pano roof:

First, we drove a JGC with the regular sunroof and noticed very little road and wind noise. We're switching from a mercury mountaineer, which itself is pretty quiet, so we were really impressed when we noticed that the JGC was even quieter. Are the JGCs with the pano roof any louder from road and/or wind noise than the JGCs within the regular sunroof?

Second, we live in Fairbanks, Alaska where wintertime temperatures are usually anywhere from -20 to -55. (and, no that's not windchill. That's actual temperature.). There are times when it is too cold to have the interior shade open on the sunroof open because the arctic cold radiates thru the glass into the cabin. Closing the shade offers a bit of insulation. Is the electric shade going to offer any insulating value?

There is. When driving by bumps, and even closing the doors is rattling a plastic crossbar of panoramic roof. I had to lay a rubber stops to her and stick on it a strip of vibration isolation. Otherwise, the use of the panoramic roof does not cause problems.

I think my pano roof is very quiet but I haven't driven one with a standard sunroof. I had a loaner with no roof for a few days but didn't drive it too much.. I noticed no real noise difference.

As for the insulating properties of the sun screen I can only say that it is a very thin piece of fabric (so it can roll up). But it does help a bit when the southern sun is blistering me during the summer. You may be okay during cold alaskan winters buy I have limited experience with cold weather and the jeep so I can't say more.

I took a week long ski trip to Lake Placid NY this last March and it got down below 0F for three of the mornings. Big difference with the shade closed, so yeah it insulates a bit, but probably not as well as a standard headliner that has maybe an 1/8" of foam under it.

The WK2 is a incredibly quiet vehicle. I have the pano roof on my 2012 Overland and notice no extra noise coming from the sunroof area whatsoever. IMO the pano roof is a must have! Really sets off the interior and the best thing abnout it is that its standard! (atleast on the Overland). I couldnt imagine paying a couple grand for a rear DVD system that doesnt allow you to get the pano roof.

James
