Re: Parking Lot Ritual

I always park far away from people....LOL Usually towards the end of the lot where there arent any other cars. I never even bother trying to park in a close spot. The walk only does us good...... Plus it's just annoying trying to park close to the store, I'm always going to worry that someone is going to door ding me, not to mention how much I hate coming back out to my car and finding a cart right next to it that wasn't there when i went in the store! It's just not worth the aggravation.....LOL

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

Also...if there are carts near my parking spot I gather them up and put them in the cart corral. People around think I'm being nice but it's purely a selfish deed...

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

The best thing about my current vehicle is the RUNNING BOARDS.

They stick out just far enough to prevent most cars and some trucks from hitting my doors. I plan to get similar ones for my upcoming WK2 to protect it also.

Thats what I look for also. Someone with a 30-40k car is not going to hit my door.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

I try to get the highest elevated area of the lot. I try to park next to a devider as close as I can to give whatever vehicle that is on the other side as much room at possible.

Some say it's just a car and this is true, having said that, I'd prefer my vehicle to be ding free if possible. I park away from people most of the time. I don't mind walking a quarter mile to the mall entrance if I know my jeep is safe from morons who don't care about other people's property, also, I get a bit of good exercise. A win win situation in my opinion.

STIX is just really nice
Re: Parking Lot Ritual

I particularly enjoy the winter time.... I park my jeep on those snow hills in the lot like I'm climbing mt everest. Why? Cause It's a jeep.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

OR2 is a good idea, especially if you have sidesteps jutting out (no way they can actually hit your door),

I haven't really been bothered though tbh, I will park very close to the line, so that mine and the other car's passenger door are close, but I will always leave heaps of room for the drivers doors.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

I am now parking away from people after getting the JGC '11. I got a ding on the trade in Camry and I think I got a lower value because of the ding. But I might consider what STIX does and park on snow banks in the winter since no one else would be able to park close to it.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

I usually find the farthest parking space from the entrance and park there, preferably in a corner space. Then, I get a little exercise and entertainment on the hike to the entrance to wherever I'm going as I watch dozens of people circling and looking for empty spaces closest to the entrance. It makes for quite the traffic cluster near any entrance where the synaptically challenged feel the circling and waiting to park is somehow saving them time and effort.

This is especially hilarious at a huge venue or store like a Costco where, after those types of people finally get that "close" space to save 500 feet of walking, they proceed inside to walk one, two or three plus miles while shopping or doing whatever. I guess winning a Darwin Award is still important to some people. There have been times where I've gone into a store, made a purchase, and upon walking out I see the same circling morons I saw when walking in finally find their coveted parking space up front.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

i park where theres a spot that has enough space for both doors to open and for me to get out comfortably without squeezing or holding my door so it doesnt swing... that being said i have had my bumper scuffed at the super market and although its a different type of parking ive had people ding me trying to get out or into parallel spots but their only small scuffs that arent too noticeable oh well
