Re: Parking Lot Ritual

Yeah mine didn't go up when someone threw a brick at my car which ripped open the hood and went through my windshield. Gotta love New York

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

Or make the other guy's insurance pay for it like it should. Call the cops if you have to. I wouldn't pay a deductible when someone else caused the ding.

Unreal. I can't believe human beings seriously throw bricks at vehicles.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

No matter how much a car is, if you like to keep your car looking brand new i would say you should definitely park away from everyone, i dont care how far away i park bc i rather walk the extra distance than spend 100$ to get a door ding out.

Drunk assholes from the bar a couple of blocks away most likely. Happened at 3 or 4 am. I didn't notice untill I went outside at 10am, neighbors told me they heard a crash . Factory alarm didn't even make a sound either btw. I have a viper 2-way alarm now, and I sleep with the remote on the end table next to my cell and alarm clock.

I walked out to my one month old overland front bumper scuffed up and the plastic below around the tow hooks pressed in. Someone backed into my front at work. Its a jeep but I prefer to cause my own damage. Sucks.

When I worked in the auto business and commuted each week from Chicago to Detroit, I saw on at least three occasions kids tossing bowling balls and concrete blocks onto the highway from overpasses. IIRC, someone was eventually killed (I-94 or I-696) due to this depraved behavior.

Re: Parking Lot Ritual

My favorite parking lot ritual is when I park my jeep far away and when I come out of the store there are 2 or 3 other jeeps near mine all parked next to me, but a respective distance away. Gotta love it.

You can treat your jeep like it's a 77 redneck truck if you want, but honestly, to me, that's what's nuts. But then again, I take care of all my stuff. I clean my golf clubs, rarely wear either of my 2 tag heuers to avoid damage and park my jeep away from careless morons who are oblivious.

And if we ever cross paths, your jeep door will look like shit and mine will be like the day I bought it. I'll look at your door and say to whoever is riding with me at the time that the way your door looks is why I park in spots at the back of the lot. Then, come trade in/sales time I'll make a few thousand more than you will because you're careless and I'm careful.

True story.
I have sold a few of my cars to private party for more than the dealer was offering to give me. I just don't feel the need to baby my cars. They are to be used. I don't abuse them but I don't go out of my way to protect them either.

As far away from the shopping carts and old people as possible.
