I think that is a good decision for you. When you buy a vehicle it should be the one you know you want now. If you are uncomfortable about the purchase to start with, you may spend too much time in the beginning wondering what is going to go wrong. If nothing happens, in time you will have good feelings about the purchase.

If you wait, as long as nothing goes wrong, you will feel good about your decision from day one.

I do like my Jeep, but that should not influence your decision. And, as long as you don't need a new vehicle right now, do what makes you comfortable.

The '15s are only 6 - 8 months away. Post pictures when the time comes.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

What amazes me is that there are only about 3 people in this thread that are bashing Jeep. I understand there may be some issues, but to sit here and bash jeep for a few small issues, and to continue to go on and on bashing them is illogical. Get the problems fixed (that is why there is a warranty) or sell the thing and get something else. Having to go to the dealer - sucks for everyone, but that is part of life. Think you are too busy, too bad, so are the rest of us. Don't like your dealer, then find a new one. The rest of us in here are getting tired of the same people droning on and on about the same thing. Over all, Jeep makes a good product. Yes, there are some issues, and Jeep has either fixed them, or is working to fix them. EVERY car manufacturer has had QC issues. Some better, some worse. To keep bashing in the forums - just how much do you think this is going to help with your resale down the road - you are being illogical at best.

Reading these forums have also been a cause for concern for me at least. I have also taken a look at the Wrangler forum and there is very little discussion of problems there.

You know, given that it does seen to be the same few people who apparently are so negative on Jeep AND continuously make sweeping patently false comments on the "lack of issues" with other brands--often times referencing specific brands--and yet don't buy those brands and disappear from the site makes me wonder a bit if there aren't some individuals on here employed by other brands (or their marketing firms) working to actively discourage new people from buying Jeep. I HAVE seen this before. It's an accepted and used tactic in the advertising/marketing world. There are plenty of "bad reviewers" and "complainers" out there for hire...same as with the good side.

Look at what happens:
1) An owner posts a problem
2) Several people offer reasonable advice
3) A select group of individuals that rarely post in "good" threads glom on and start talking about sweeping issues with Jeep. Nobody else has these problems. If countered that it's easy to find plenty of boards with posts of issues about other makers, that's ignored or deflected as "not the point" or that the reasonable people are just "fanboys."
4) A few random low-post users pop on and give "thumbs up" to the negative posts. Offering little real info.
5) A couple of low-post "potential buyers" post how they're having second thoughts now.

It's rather formulaic and has followed this pattern on practically every "problem" thread, no matter how small the issue is or was.

Okay, I normally avoid these type of conversations. But seriously, FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!

It may be annoying to have to deal with repeated trips to the dealer. It may make you angry that you are having problems with a vehicle that you spent a large amount of money on. I understand both of those.

But it is NOT traumatic.

Your spouse, child, or parent did not die because of your Jeep problems. Your house did not burn down or collapse because of your Jeep problems. Your trusted pet dog did not get ran over because of your Jeep problems. People did not invade your home or molest you because of your Jeep problems. All of those ARE traumatic events.

Dealing with your Jeep problems is NOT a traumatic event.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

This thread has been more entertaining than enlightening. A few random thoughts......

> The plural of anecdote is NOT data regardless of how many times it's repeated, or how shrill the tone.
> Data is helpful but understand the basis of the research, where it comes from, who prepared it, what their agenda is and then adjust accordingly.
> There are fan boys on JGForum (yes, I do like Jeeps), and JGF whiners/bashers (for whatever reason potentially including justifiable experience, personal nature, other brand preferences/affiliations, and/or competitor trolling).
> All brands have some level of product issues and dealer problems. Find the best dealer within a reasonable distance, and decide how much delivery quality means to you. Are you willing to shift to an alternative vehicle/brand and/or a higher price point brand if you can't deal with the risk of less than top quartile delivery quality? Personally I like the Jeep brand, and am not willing to add another $5,000 to $10,000/vehicle to move my risk from 100/100 to 80/100 (as an example). YMMV (and that's OK)!!!

Now I need to get back outdoors!!!!

THIS is the problem.

Nobody here is "bashing" Jeep. Everyone seems to think that all of us are saying that Jeep is horrible and everybody has all these problems, etc etc. Thats not what we're saying at all. I have said many times that I recognize that people who don't have these problems don't see where we are coming from. BUT...the problems are real, there aren't only three people on the forum with problems...there are a lot of people. Its not just the 2014s...mine's a 2011. Just read the forums. Jeep has QC issues...that much is just obvious to anybody who is looking at this rationally. Whether some other carmakers may have issues too or whatever is meaningless...we are Jeep customers and WE have problems. If I get stabbed and some other guy gets shot...I don't say "Hey, at least I didn't get shot" and go upon my merry way.

When you downplay these issues you are basically saying that all of us are just crazy...which we aren't.

I promise you, when you have 27 warranty failures in 2 years like me, and you have fights with your wife because you had to have the Jeep when she wanted a Toyota and we have to put it in the shop all the time...you would be as frustrated as me. Even you...your sig says "2014.5 Jeep" There is no such thing. By putting 2014.5 on your signature you're differentiating yourself from 2014 owners. Why?

There is no trolling or bashing going on here...its not like we're out polluting threads off topic with our problems. This is a thread about Jeep goofing up and we're talking about them goofing up. Don't want to read it? Don't read the thread.

The only reason I used the word traumatic is because the poster I was replying to used the word. I would not classify it as traumatic either.

This is just nonsense. Is it so impossible to believe that we have issues with our Jeeps? I also think you overstate the importance of what is written on internet forums when it comes to vehicle sales. Sometimes people come, post, and leave when the topic no longer interests them. How do you know those people never purchased the other brand? Why would they post here and tell us? They post on whatever forum is appropriate for what they bought...or not at all.

I've been a paying member here for years...I'm hardly a "plant" Do you wear a tinfoil hat too?

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

well, I can speak to that. I purchased a new 911 (991) last September and after 4 months I noticed that the roof color was somewhat off. I drive to the dealership and ask if I'm insane. They look at it, and say that the body is Platinum Silver, but the two roof panels between the sunroof are Artic Silver. So, turns out Porsche put the wrong panels on, and some other guy is driving around with a custom ordered Artic Silver with 2 Platinum silver roof panels. It ended well, got them repainted and some cash.
