Again, the fanboy response is to respond to the poor rating by denigrating the source instead of offering up a contradictory source of your own. Consumer Reports is a highly respected source for independent ratings and evaluations. You may take that lightly but it's a big deal. Most consumers are not enthusiasts and they rely more on ratings from places like CR than sources that discuss and rate a vehicles other attributes. That CR Recommended rating is important, especially when it comes at a time when Jeep and Chrysler are trying to play up their newfound quality. Jeep wants that rating back.

You may not be able to admit it, but I promise you internally Jeep considers the launch of the 2014 to be a disaster, any company would given what went on. It seems to be sorted out now, but those first few months were tough.

Again, if I'm so totally off base here show me some independent source or rating outlet that puts Jeep on par with or ahead of rivals in these areas.

Fanboys discredit Consumer Reports, KBB, Edmunds, JD Power, and TrueDelta. It's all a Commie plot.

People must not be listening to all these consumer advocate productions because 175k GC's were sold thru Dec. 2013. Up from 155k in dec. 2012.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

First of all, this is one of the biggest production years for the JGC. Second, most of the bugs have been worked out. The Q! and a few of the Q2 builds had some issues. Since the 2014 was released early, it is going to have at least 6 quarters of builds. This means that an entire year of builds is going to have few if any problems. Seems to me that people are loving their 2014 JGC's, especially the latter builds. Lets stick to the facts here, and not insult or put down others. It really ticks me off when people have to insult and belittle other people to make themselves look important.

Nah. The response is to give you alternate points of view, never once saying this are just peachy, but not anywhere near as catastrophic as you claim. Unfortunately, and as pointed out, you argue only in hyperbole. Extremism at its finest (worst).

Actually if you knew anything about this you'd find that MOST (to use your word) consumers don't even use ratings at all. Of the ones that do, only a small segment use it as their primary decision input.

Sure they do. Everything helps.

Er...more extremist talk. Well...it's expected from you at this point. Having been involved in the auto industry both directly and indirectly for the past 15 years I can guarantee you they do not consider it a "disaster" at all. Not even close. In fact they consider it to be a success. Do improvements need to be made? Absolutely. But whether YOU want to admit it or not, sales are the indicator here. The teething problems with the number of redesigned systems were anticipated.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

I have contacts and friends at Chrysler and they believe the 2014 is an absolute success and the continued month over month sales increases show that.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

I think this is a lost argument. No one wins... Jeep has work to do.. ALL of us agree on that. If the 14' launch had been a disaster they wouldn't have recalled all the GC's and ignored problems.. that's the old Jeep. The new Jeep recognizes issues and they are trying like hell to fix them.

People look to consumer reports and other resources because they aren't capable of making a decision on their own. That's all that BS is about.

my12 has the shock issue... as long as they replace them under warranty I'm fine... I agree sometimes it's a pain.. but my dealership has a shuttle service that will pick me up from work and take me where I need to go.

Jeep hit a home run with the WK2 and at first I didn't like the 14's, now all I see is improvement from the 11-13 to the 14. When Chrysler and Jeep started boasting their new found quality, they did it when they introduced the new 2011 models. 5 years ago Jeep or Chrysler would not have admitted there was a problem with any of their vehicles, now they are issuing TSB's and recalls right and left. That is showing Chrysler has learned the hard way and they are now trying to fix everything and approve upon what the past for them had been.

To me, that is showing an improvement in quality on its own.

Signed,

Fanboy

It's a great vehicle, and a great value, that's not a surprise- but lasting success will come from all these owners being satisfied and happy.

That's how i felt the first time, and the second time. Time 25...I was less understanding. You all would be too.

Issuing TSBs and recalls is better than ignoring problems...but ultimately we'd hope they could build the vehicle without these problems in the first place.

Let me say it again very clearly. Read it three times to get it through your skull. ALL I HAVE EVER SAID IS THAT JEEP HAS WORK TO DO WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, RELIABILITY AND DEALER SATISFACTION I have said nothing extremist and the only person who is using the word "catastrophic" is you. Hyperbole? I have posted pages of data to support my position. You have posted nothing of value, your only retort is that all of these respected industry sources for ratings and surveys are worthless.

I'll challenge you again. Post one independent source that refutes what I've been saying. One.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

Maybe its your wording SW03ES...like If I was a newb and read your last few posts you mention 27 warranty visits with your one truck. So your truck has been in for 27 total warranty visits? I even got a pm from a member asking about your 2014 being in 27 times. They were asking should they buy a 2014. Making BOLD statements make newbs take them BOLDLY. So...has your truck really been in 27x or for 27 items? What were each item?....cause that seems almost sensational and that's just an opinion....no fanboyism. Why did you not lemon the vehicle? That's like 2 times + per month for 2 years.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

My truck has had 27 separate warranty repairs. I have had multiple issues addressed in a visit, but my Jeep has been in the shop many times. Now I have a short in one of my footlights and it's not the bulb...

Most of the issues are small electrical items...but put together they become a hassle. I've had both control pads on the steering wheel go bad, the cruise module twice, keyless lock buttons on the drivers door and the hatch, the button that releases the rear window, the entire HVAC control panel went bad, steering rack leaking, brakes with rotors at 22k miles, sunroof drains not hooked up causing leaks, USB ports went bad, nav module went bad...that's just off the top of my head. Lemon law it has to be the same concern, this is multiple concerns.

It's not a bold statement, it's the truth.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

Looking at the chart way below:

> Jeep is 118 problems/100 vehicles; if my math is correct, that's 1.18 expected problems for my 1 Jeep because I don't buy 100 Jeeps.
> Ind. Avg is 1.13 problems reported for 1 vehicle
> Porsche (rated best IQS results, 2013) is .8 problems / vehicle
> Either way, it looks like we're headed back to our dealers to get 1 +/- problems fixed in a new vehicle. YMMV

Ask yourself this: How much more would you be willing to pay to move your Jeep from 1.18 to 1.13 (the industry average) for your 1 vehicle? Probably very little. Perhaps I'd pay $100 to have my Jeep specially built and inspected to have it delivered with a .8 (Porsche level reported problems) rating, but not much more than that. Remember, IQS problems will be fixed under warranty.

Admittedly the reliability #s for Jeep show a bigger gap. However, the same style of analysis can be done. How much more are you willing to pay (assuming you can match the features and capabilities) to move up the reliability rankings to match Lexus, MB, or can you get a Toyota that suits your fancy?

So as the #s stand, it makes a lot of sense to me (YMMV) to buy the Jeep if you want one. Ignore the shrill voices and prophets of doom.
