Wouldn't you rather have the Jeep AND not have these issues?

For me its the hassle...if Jeep would give me a loaner it wouldn't be as bad, we have to drop it off, share a car for however long its in, causes stress between us because she's even madder about these issues than I am because she didn't really want the Jeep to begin with.

Its had 27 warranty repairs, it hasn't been in the shop 27 times. Multiple things have been addressed at a time. It hasn't been in the shop for 30 days. 15 maybe. Even that is more than any other car I've ever owned and its only 2.5 years old.
No, the issues give it its character. It's a Jeep thing. Of course I wish that it didn't have as many issues, but for me it isn't the biggest deal in the world. I should say that I have other vehicles to drive, and often drive the other vehicles instead of the Jeep (17 year-old drives it to school now), so not getting a loaner isn't a huge problem for me, where it is for most people.

It looks like the Jeeps have more problems than the average vehicle, and there is no denying that you are less likely to have issues with a new Lexus than with a new Jeep. But overall, it isn't like every Jeep that is coming out of the plant is a lemon. At this point, most of the issues have been resolved and there is just the occasional software glitch or misaligned panel (or wrong color fuel door ). The early 2011s and early 2014s are the ones that are most problematic (by far). Marlon has commented on the issues with both of them and management not caring and not listening. Don't blame the guys building them for the problems. It is the management that rushed the 2011 and the 2014 out the door before all of the problems were fixed. The guys building them at JNAP are doing a great job.

Thanks for clarifying that, I misunderstood. That is still a bummer, especially without a loaner, but not the worst thing in the world, and it sounds like most of your issues are resolved.

Its like in the 80s when Jaguar owners said that the sparking wiring harnesses gave them character LOL

17 year old gets to drive the 2014 Overland to school? Nice Dad

That makes all the difference in the world. We have two cars, and we each need a car. I drive around during the day for work as I'm in sales so we can't even carpool even though we work 3 blocks from each other. I never know when I'll be headed home and she winds up sitting around waiting for me.

Dealers don't even have RENTAL cars here...even if I wanted to rent a car I'd have to go to a rental car company or something...which is more hassle.

For now. I've been to this point a bunch of times though.

Dear SW03ES

I'm really sorry that you had 27 different issues on your Jeep. I really feel your pain.

That really sucks.

However statistics is statistics, and you having 27 problems doesn't change the 1.2 average.
For any one like you, and I'm sure we can find a couple more with really bad experience, there are 20 guys with 0 problems. You need to accept that yours is not an average Jeep but a really bad one.

I'm one of them so far, I have 2012 overland that so far had 0 issues.
I have a 2014 Durango that came with a scratched A pillar trim and steering wheel a little off center.
My 2010 Mercedes S class died 16 hours after bringing it home, had to be loaded on flat bad to the dealer and a software update that should have been done by the factory and checked by the dealer was the cause.
My 2010 Range Rover had horrible head unit, just a bad design, and the rear hatch sounded like a garbage truck door every time it closed.
My 2011 Maserati had some warning lights coming on from day one, the dealer sad it's a weak battery and the wanted me to pay for a new one, after a short angry discussion, a software update solved it, and it is trouble free to date.

I can go on and on, I own a few cars and am in charge of our company cars as well so I see many cars. And in your case you got the short end of the statistics stick and then some.

This is what I would do if I was you, get the whole history documents from the dealer, send with a polite firm letter to Jeep customer service and get them to give you employee discount on the next purchase.

So to close, your horrible experience is not lessened by my good experience, and vice versa.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

I have never said my Jeep was an average Jeep, in fact I have said repeatedly that it is not.

All I have said is that there ARE some problems, moreso than many other brands, and there is room for improvement when it comes to production quality and consistency, reliability and dealer satisfaction. That's all I've ever said.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

Back in the seventies, I briefly sold cars at McPeek Chrysler-Plymouth in Anaheim, CA.

One day, the truck offloaded a new flock of vehicles.

One of them was a new Plymouth Scamp. At least that's what it was on the right side of the vehicle. Problem was, on the left side it was a Dodge Dart. All badging correct on their respective sides....

It could be worse....

Some people don't mind mediocrity; they're okay with their children being 'C' students; are okay with the status quo; and don't demand things being done right because, you know, "S*it Happens".
Well said. I couldn't agree more. The type of "good enough" or "just can't do it" or "is what it is" mentality being used to justify these QC problems is systematically toxic when it comes to business - or anything for that matter.

So how do we know that the OP didn't buy a black jeep and the fuel door was the only piece that was correct? He needs to check his build sheet. Just sayin'
