You know something we are all missing here, The dealer didn't notice it either during their inspection and PDI. What else did they miss?

hahaha funny.. I would open the hood and see if there is a eco diesel engine there. just make sure.

Even if the dealer changed the piece, I doubt they will admit it.

Guys, I'm just gonna put this out there.

I've missed this exact thing before too. NO, even *I* am not perfect!!! It is a piece of cake when 602 Jeeps are coming down the line a shift on the following colors:

Black
True Blue
Blackberry (Remember that one?)
Whatever that green color is called that almost looks black

Not enough lights can be on or electricity burned to catch something THIS difficult, especially when you only have 47 seconds to inspect your little section of the vehicle.

Sorry you got the wrong gas door. When I see quality issues on here, I typically report them to the appropriate people, but in this case... the best thing I can say is...

"**** happens."

BTW: The SAME thing happens with the tailgate handles, and lightbars.

Jeep could give all the attention to detail that you want, for a price. There is a reason that Jeeps sell so well in spite of their problems. It has to do with cost/benefit analysis, which we all do every day. To get everything you get in a Jeep built to the standard you want would put it in the price range of a Mercedes. So if you think the Mercedes will never be shipped with a defect, that should be your go to brand.

We buy Jeeps because nobody else gives you so much capability for the price.


... And to keep Marlon and the gang employed.

I can see this happening.. Jeep has 5 shades of black: black,dark blue black, dark green black (does anybody even buy this color?) light blue black and a light black called granite LOL.
