Whatever that green color is called that almost looks black

Not enough lights can be on or electricity burned to catch something THIS difficult, especially when you only have 47 seconds to inspect your little section of the vehicle.
Sorry...this is no excuse. Maybe the guy on the line could have missed it...but it should go through several layers of QC before it gets out of the plant...let along onto the truck...LET ALONE INTO THE CUSTOMER'S HANDS! Thats why you have different layers of compliance and QC. I'm sure this kind of thing happens on the line all the time with other makes too...the difference is its caught before it leaves the plant...not when the customer has his vehicle in his driveway. "The colors are so close!" BS. Be professionals! We're spending some of us $55k+ for your product, its not unreasonable for us to expect all the parts will match...when somehow every other manufacturer is able to get them to match. They all match on a $15,000 Toyota Yaris! I read the Toyota forums, nobody posts saying "I got the wrong fuel door". If it was just this one time it would be a laughable oddity, but there are a great many posts about similar problems to these on this forum.

I have owned many cars, and I post on and read MANY forums ranging from foreign luxury makes to domestic mainstream makes...I have NEVER read the stories about QC that I have read here. Absolutely NEVER. Remember the large batch of Summits that shipped with Overland steering wheels with wood that was a completely different color, red vs grey?!? How did they get out of your plant?

This is ridiculous...and the "**** happens" response is the absolute truth about how Chrysler must approach this situation for these lapses in QC to continue... Terrible. Its such a shame too because its such a nice vehicle...

Some of these fanboys are so blind when it comes to this that if the drivers door fell off they would say "Well, sure the drivers door on that <insert name of car here> stays on...but look what a value the Jeep is!" or "you can have the doors stay on as long as you want...but you gotta pay for it"

There is no excuse for the poor QC we've seen. The "standard we want" is put together properly with all the proper matching parts in a vehicle where all the components and switches work flawlessly for 7-10 years LOL. Thats not something that is a luxury car thing...I can buy a Toyota Yaris or a Honda Fit or a Volkwagen Jetta or a Ford Fiesta or a *gasp* Kia Forte that is built to that standard, but its unreasonable to expect that standard for a $30-55k Jeep...just ignoring the SRT? I want some of that kool aid!

It was before your time, do a search there was a big long thread. We had several members here with Summits that were delivered with the steering wheel from the Overland. The Summit had the grey ash wood and the Overland had the orange/red wood.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

This type of issue is absurd and inexcusable. In today's world, with everything barcoded, why would you not scan the vehicle bar code with the part bar code, they should immediately match if they are intended to mate. If not, it should alarm. So, JNAP has processes where the worker has to pick from a bin, seems silly? I read Marlon's comments, I hope that isn't the attitude everyone has regarding the details. We aren't talking about $25.00 toasters here. Details are what separates the Hondas, Toyotas, and other over the pond vehicles from Detroit's. I'm not going to say nothing is ever wrong on the other brands, but these are pretty basic items on the Jeeps. Everyone is far more foregiving on this forum than general Joe on the public.

I'm proud of my Jeep, but I'd like to be able to say my Jeep is a high quality vehicle in a crowd without being laughed at. Or, recommend the GC without a bunch of disclaimers - don't buy one built before xxx, watch for this issue, drive it and check for this or that.

Wrong, I think a serious problem is a serious problem. But the wrong color gas door is not one of them. When I see comments like, nobody should have to go through this, I just think drama queen.

And for something so minor to cause people to go back to dig up problems they read about (not necessarily experienced) in the past just so they can complain "again" just doesn't make sense to me.

Just trying to keep thing in perspective.

I wish everybody that built cars was perfect. But anybody who looks in the mirror and sees a perfect person is delusional.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

I'll leave the debate about QC, etc to you guys. And I can absolutely understand how some customers might be more bent out of shape than I am.

I will only say, for me, I don't view it as a big deal. I don't know the exact process for the gas door to get on the Jeep, but these colors are so close that I can understand how it can happen. I sure didn't see it the first three times I looked at the Jeep.

Now, if I take it to the local dealer to get it fixed and get hassled...that would be a bigger deal to me. As long as Jeep is willing to rectify the problem with as little pain to me as possible, I'll be happy.

Smile Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

It sort of scares me to agree with Bill, but I can't understand why so many people think fifty grand entitles you to a hand built Bentley. Guys, it's a mass produced vehicle, no different than a Tahoe or an Explorer or anything else.

I'm one on the lucky ones with zero problems and to those folks who have experienced problems that left them with no instruments or an undrivable truck, I agree completely. Jeep needs to make it right and you have every right to vent. The rollout should have been better.

But a fuel door that doesn't match? Really? Especially when most of the Jeep colors are black and almost black. It would be one thing if the Jeep was black and they put a white door on it, that would certainly indicate nobody gave a damn.

I think the OP was just sharing a laugh. They'll replace it at your first oil change. I also think for those willing to pay 40% more for a truck that isn't as capable because it has a star or propeller or whatever on the hood, you probably have a reason to expect a bit more.

I have two friends who have Range Rovers and those things are constantly in the shop, but they constantly talk about how great they are. Personally I wouldn't give you a dollar for both of them.

Any way, vent over. I think we just need to keep things in perspective and I mean no disrespect to anyone. The crew at JNAP did right by me and if I find something that doesn't line up quite right I'll take it in and they'll fix it.

Well said John.

Homebrew, maybe they just wanted to test out a new look on your ride. Remember a few years back when the fad was to have contrasting silver or chrome gas tank covers? Maybe you were the first with a new 2015 option
