I am sure everyone appreciates your contribution and I hope your management is equally appreciative. Ultimately the responsibility for QC rests with them. Sounds they are not providing QC inspectors with adequate resources such as personnel and equipment (paint inspection requires proper lighting.

Jackpot! That's EXACTLY what I am suggesting.

MORE lighting! Obviously it is too dark in this area. Need more, closer lighting!!!

I don't care how much is there now
(but I know it's a lot) but maybe it needs to be focused on this area.

Thank you Marlon.

High turnover may lead to greater resources that will ultimately make your job easier. Great staff are hard to find and your feedback to management, particularly, from this thread...& yes weekends reflects your dedication to both your work and your employer.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

All I really meant was...

Mass Produced Vehicle
This stuff does happen.
Even with my extreme attention to detail, even *I* have missed this before.
I've worked all over JNAP. Seriously, doing almost everything. I am known as the guy who can "do anything".
I am also the guy who cares as I am a Jeep enthusiast! (Even if I wasn't, I would still care...)

I'll tell you something else too. It's in my blood.

My father got fired over caring too much before. But of course I have a much more controlled temper and that was back in the '80s... the age where Chrysler really didn't seem to care about quality despite what they said. When screws fall out over time for no reason, that, my friends, is a problem.

My mom's 1993 Plymouth Duster was a quality nightmare. Literally. She now drives a 2012 Dodge Journey and just can't believe that when she hits a pothole, all she hears is "thunk", no rattles, no screws falling out, no instrument clusters going out and guess what? Her rack and pinion has NOT had to be replaced after 20,000 miles!!!!!

Absolutely...

Nobody is questioning your passion and involvement Marlon, just your contributions to this board prove that its there. On a level far above you changes need to be made and focus needs to be sharpened on this issue if Jeep really does want to build a vehicle that truly competes in the luxury arena.

Any frustration of mine that may have been focused on you directly was my error. Just a badly worded post at the wrong time on your part.

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

I will admit that it was HARD to see the humor in my post. I did detect some humor in the OP's post. Anyone who has met me knows that I am nothing BUT silly, even while being serious. THAT is why I made the reply that I made.

Probably should have used some smileys?

Regarding extending the level of quality control, it's up to us to get it there.

That is our job. And slowly but surely, we're getting there. It's not just me. I'm just using myself as an example!

Re: Pay close attention on that walkthrough!!

However, I have to say this.

In *natural* sunlight, something like this is pretty much impossible to notice.

Even though we were supposed to get this right, at this point, as an employee *and* a consumer of Chrysler's products... *and ONLY Chrysler's products as my father would have KILLED me had I considered otherwise*

'98 Durango
'04 Liberty
'06 Liberty
'08 Avenger
'08 Grand Cherokee
'10 Liberty
'93 Shadow
'13 Dart

I can't see how the dealership skipped over this one...

Your efforts are very much appreciated.

It appears the plant is over capacity, and that is contributing to the quality problems. Wouldn't it make sense to slow the process to increase QC?

The nagging concern is the historical Jeep/Chrysler reliability issues. Consumer Reports has ranked the company at, or near the bottom for over twenty years. This has persisted through three corporate ownership cycles.

CR, KBB, Edmunds, Truedelta, JD Power, etc. all indicate significant problems with the 2014 JGC.

My wife and I have delayed consideration until the 2015 model year to allow the company to address all issues.

The issues HAVE been addressed, and fixed. The problems were with the Q! and a few of the Q2 builds, and at that, mostly with the V6. These issues are resolved. The ones coming off the line now are running great, with no known issues. The problem is Jeep released a model before it was ready to be released. Ask anyone who has bought a JGC in the past 3 months if they have had issues. At most, your will hear of are minor things that are easily fixed, and they are few and far at best.

How can you say the issues are solved when people are still being delivered cars with the wrong parts?

I think those in the slamming mode should lower the ridiculous quotient a bit. I've seen a BMW delivered with the wrong seats (wrong color too, a Range Rover with the wrong exhaust. It happens in high-volume production. It gets corrected. Big deal. If there were 1000s or 100s going out this way it would be a huge deal. There aren't. It isn't.

True Blue and Black are both pearl coats in this case and if you're not looking very carefully this particular case is pretty easy to miss. True Blue often looks like black when not in direct lighting.
