Pennzoil Ultra Platinum

Here is a good price on 5w20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic. Amazon will drop three 5 quart jugs on your door step for $88, that's only $5.86 a quart. Not too bad its nearly $10 a quart to buy it in the auto parts store by the quart.

Amazon.com: Pennzoil 550038330-3PK Ultra Platinum 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil - 5 Quart Jug, (Case of 3): Automotive

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W20 SN Motor Oil, 5 qt

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W20 SN Motor Oil, 5 qt - Walmart.com

You can buy online with free shipping (over $50). I believe the Ultra is replacing the old "plain" platinum

Ultra Platinum replaced the old Ultra, not the Platinum.

Regardless, that is a good price. If I didn't dislike Walmart so much, I would order some.

Yes it is free shipping so thats $84 for 3 jugs of ultra at walmart and amazon raised theirs to 91 for 3 so walmart is the better deal now. I dont even know why they make the platinum when its only a 50 cents more per quart to just get the ultra.

Ultra platinum is harder to find by the jug glad to see walmart has got it back again. Thanks for the tip. $42 + $5.66 for a mopar filter is not bad for a full synthetic oil change. I have had the ultra in mine since 1200 miles.

Re: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum

I bought the plain Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 at Wal-Mart for $25.17 for a 5 quart jug. that comes to $5.03 a quart. Is the "Ultra Platinum" any better? Both say they are, "made from natural gas". How, I have no idea? How do you make something wet from something dry?? I guess the next time I want to dry my pants, I'll throw them back in the washing machine.

Ultra is supposed to be pennzoils best the website talks about it but who knows really right, i think its werid they have two synthetics so closely priced, Platinium $5.03 and ultra $5.60 per quart. Not the biggest of fiinancial decisions lol, part of it is ultra is not available many places by the jug, amazon and walmart are the only i know of. Most of the auto parts stores only push platinum jugs as their best pennzoil so i think thats what many people buy. If making the decison to go to synthetic pennzoil why not get the best one since cost is not really a factor, or thats my thought. Ultra is same one they use in SRT so should be just fine for us lol

Not sure where you got the $42, 10 qts, (unless you have the diesel), the Pentastar only requires 6 quarts (kinda a bummer since I need to buy one 5-quart jug plus one quart). Also where did you find a $5.66 Mopar filter?

The 5.7 hemi takes 7.5 quarts to get it to halfway up the hashed area (supposed to be 7 to fill but thats another story) so 7.5 = 1.5 jugs (each jug 5 quarts) jugs are $28 so 28 +14 = $42. Picked up several filters at walmart last fall for 5.66 each. so 47 for the change tax alsoi guess but thats different everywhere

Oh no, not this again! If you put 7 quarts in with a new filter, where is it on the dipstick? Isn't that what the manual says?

LoL thats why i said a whole differnt subject. If i put in 7 quarts with a new filter it is on add a quart no matter how long i let it sit. Not real comfortable leaving it on add a quart so i add another half quart to bring it half way up the hashed area still is half a quart below full though. Half a quart over or under filled is not a big deal but id rather not be a whole quart over or under filled. 7.5 is the happy medium for chysler not being able to figure out a dip stick in this day and age.
