I think its pretty obvious this brand new engine will have a carburetor and crank start. As far as brakes go, foot operated is out. There is only a hand operated one in the center console (Similar to the E-brake system in the current WK) and they are drums at the wheels.
I have this sweet never before yet seen image from Chrysler with a guy starting up this new Jeeps motor. This image does not show the motor in an actual 2011 model yet. This was the preliminary phase in development before they even had a design for the new WK. They had to test it somehow.

i was just going to post that pic

Re: Pentastar V6

:cough: sarcasm :cough: that was apparently lost on charoul1 and mjl2610. Anyone know if it'll run on new-fangled unleaded gasoline?

All due respect, the sarcasm was noted with a bit right back.

Re: Pentastar V6

Anyone have thoughts about the performance of the new pentastar when comparing to an older v8?
I currently drive an '04 Limited V8 with 235hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. How would this compare to the 2011 V6 with 290 hp and 260 lb-ft numbers? I know the '11 weighs 800 lbs more +/- 200lbs, so is it even possible to say these engines would perform the same on the road (aside from towing)? Undecided on the engine on my wk2, I like the power of the hemi, but if the engine is similar to the one I'm driving now, I'd just assume save the money and time at the pump.

I read this in one review-

"However, the V6 model was not as quick off the line as we had expected. Perhaps it was the terrain or the elevation, but the acceleration was only modest until the revs began to climb. We prefer serious off-the-line grunt, so we'd probably opt for the V8 and take the small fuel-economy hit."

Re: Pentastar V6

I think in a vehicle with the heft of the WK2, the Hemi is the only way to go. I had a similar v6 in my FX35, and while strong when the revs built, down low it was a dog. I felt like I was always in a race around town. The 4.7HO in my Overland, is just about perfect in contrast.

I'm looking forward to picking up a 2012 WK2 Hemi, as I avoid the first year of any model.

So far it looks like Jeep has hit one out of the park.

Re: Pentastar V6

it's all about MPG these days, but i'd love to drive a wrangler with this v6, on & off road. it'll be much much much better than the current mini van engine
