Peterson's 4x4 review

I thought this article was interesting
in particular about the missing front ELSD

http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/feature...kee/index.html

"Finally, the downgraded Quadra-Drive II system is different from previous versions; the locking diff up front is gone. However, amazingly enough the system is so much better in sensing wheel slip that if you actually drive the beast it can get the job done. Rockcrawling, on the other hand, is still best left to a solid-axle vehicle, such as the Jeep Rubicon."

Re: Peterson's 4x4 review

Is this what the belly of a production WK2 looks like, or is this pre-production? Those 1-3" bolt ends and vent/weep/drainage/whatever hose would get ripped off/bent on the first difficult trail.

Re: Peterson's 4x4 review

Geeze are the new ones really over 5,000 lbs? What makes them around 800 lbs heavier than the WK1's?

I believe the test vehicle they used was a pre-production vehicle, but I do not know if the production ones are like that or not.. guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks when my WK2 Hemi with ORII comes in!!

Re: Peterson's 4x4 review

Pretty much written about a pre-production vehicle when they talk about all the "doodads" that we know are "late availability", but were included in their test vehicle.
