Know its not limited to Jeep dealers. I had a situation last month when the Lexus dealer I've used for years damaged my Lexus when washing it. They ultimately took responsibility and made it right, but dealing with the manager who was rude and condescending, accusatory that it was somehow my fault that their carwash ground all the road salt on the car into the paint...certainly not the premium treatment I expect.
Car was purchased from Hall in Fenton, our sales woman was great, she didn't pester us after we walked away, and I get that the dealership didn't build the car, however, they sell that product, and if they sell a defective product, they should be apologetic for the inconvenience.

Michigan does have a Lemon Law, however, the issues have to occur at least 3 times in 30 days for it to be considered applicable to the Lemon Law. Tomorrow I get my vehicle, hopefully I'll make me more than 5 miles this time.

You know what sucks? Buying a USED car that meets those requirements.

That was my case back in 2007 with a 2008 Dodge Avenger. (Had 13,878 miles on it)

But I KNEW that Chrysler COULD build a better car than that piece of crap, so I didn't give up...

Been happy ever since. I just got a really f'd up car.

Yeah I could understand buying an older vehicle and having issues but a close to new one sucks. Truthfully, this has been one of my worst experiences with buying a vehicle. I really hope that this was just a fluke and that the car is fine, I love Jeep and the luxury that comes with it, hence why I've purchased 3 since 09

I hope so too because I hate to hear about issues like yours, especially with the thousands of pounds of pride that goes into building these.

And you live in Michigan which makes the problem even worse...

Re: Picking up a brand new 14, need opinions!

I can't tell you how far good service at a dealer goes. That is the one thing I am going to miss when I turn my Lincoln in. The dealership where I leased my Lincoln MKX sells both Fords and Lincolns. The Lincoln people have their own service desk in the service department. Not sure if it is like this for everyone, but I felt I got special treatment every time I was there. They spoke to me with respect and were clear and polite about everything. I have no idea what the service department is like at my Jeep dealer. I can tell you that so far I have been disappointed with the sales side. My friend is the sales manager there and I am getting my Summit at a great price, but boy do I not like the experience so far. The one sales manager (not my friend) told me that I was one of the most difficult customers he has ever dealt with. He has even yelled at me in emails (TYPING IN ALL CAPS). I've considered contacting the owners of the dealership but I don't want to see my friend get into any trouble. It has just been a big disappointment.

My point though is when you have issues with a vehicle, it makes it that much easier to deal with when you have a service department that acts like they care about you. I hope that I don't have the issues that some of you have had, but if I do, I hope my service department makes me feel important. One of the reasons I purchased from my friend locally instead of driving down to DC to save another $1000 with the group buy is I feel that you will get better service from a dealership when you buy the car from them. At least that's what I hope...

Philly ,

I can tell you from my personal experiences that I've been treated well at dealers for service even though I didn't purchase from them.

If the dealership is sending you nasty emails before they have your money how are they going to treat you afterwards?

The all caps email would be more than enough for me to take my business elsewhere. I think you're a good person for not going to ownership with that complaint. However, they'd never see me again under any circumstances.

An all caps email to a prospective customer? Unbelievable. Salesmanship is dead....

Exactly my thoughts, and I said that to my friend when I wrote him about it. He still hasn't responded to me. I am just beginning to group them all together. I think car salesmen are the scum of the earth. I have never ever had a comfortable experience with any of them.

(sorry to any of the car salesmen who are not jerks)

Yeah and that was one of the sales managers who did that. It wasn't the entire email. Just the part where he was yelling, so I know it wasn't a mistake. If I already didn't put the $500 down on the vehicle, I would totally be shopping elsewhere.

Bottom line, if my Jeep has issues after I buy it and I get the same type of treatment that I am getting from this one sales manager, I am going to make a copy of every email that he spoke (wrote) to me like that and blast the place. Not only to the owners, but the general public too. I am somewhat of a celeb where I live (thanks to the entertainment world and also winning first place in a national weight loss competition) and I have a lot of people who follow me both in the real world and the social media world.

I'm getting worked up thinking about this and I don't even have my jeep yet! lol

I'm gonna stop. Reading things on the internet can really get ya worked up! I just hope that I am one of the new Jeep owners who has an all around pleasant experience. I can't wait to get my Summit. I just got an email now that it is being shipped. Woot!
