In my case I had some improvement after getting a SW update (don't remember the TSB #). Initially it didn't make much difference but it seemed to get better over time. I do wonder if part of the improvement is user-induced...maybe I'm compensating when the GC shifts into 2nd.

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

I have also discovered that the EVIC is off but not by much. I have filled up 4 times now and the EVIC shows around 1 mpg more than I am actually getting. I reset it everytime I fill up and it has been off all 4 times compared to calculating the mileage myself. Still not bad though, much closer than other vehicles I have driven.

I'm getting 17-18 average with 50-50 driving. Hopefully it gets better once the $6/gallon gas prices reach us this summer!

First tank was 18.6. Second tank was 20.1. Mixed driving. Be interesting when the summer blend gas gets here.

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

Update; Getting 23.1 mpg averaged over 3917 miles. That's a combination of highway/city (80/20) split. I live in Ma in a area called the Merrimack Valley. Lots of long hills on RT 495 and RT 93 into New Hampshire.

Haven't driven too much since the first post as I've been out of town. About 600 miles between first post and now.

Couldn't be happier!

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

Suspect is more into it than just the 3.6. For example mine is RWD and at 4420 lbs is probably the lightest of the WK2s, have seen specs over 5,000 lbs. Where I live is pretty flat, steepest grades are at overpasses.

Also my driving is about 10% 25 mph neighborhood, 20% 35 mph, 40 % 45 mph with stoplights, rest urban Interstate (sometimes clogged, others not).

Consequently, over 20 mpg on the second tank of winter blend seems pretty good, my 3.8 V6, 3600 lb cars have been running about 18.

You will probaby have to deduct 1mpg from that unless your EVIC is more accurate than mine.

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

Can anyone tell me
over what distance, or what time, is the EVIC's displayed mileage averaged?
Is it since the most recent reset, or over some fixed period or distance?

I have the 5.7, so far at about 3500 mi (since I reset it)
the display ranges from 16.2 to 17.8.

It will change a couple of points pretty quickly, within a 5 or 10 mile drive. Doesn't seem like that could happen if the average is taken over the total 3500 miles.

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

With 28,250 miles on mine, my overall average is 18.35 MPG with my Maximum of 23.68 and Minimum of 14.46! With a total gallons of 1539.39 and 75 fill-ups over the last 387 days since I've had my JGC! I'm pretty sure I could raise my overall if I stayed off the pedal and keep it closer to the legal speed limit on the interstates!

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

Funny thing I noticed after a 280 mile trip I take once a week is that if I keep the speed right under 70 I can get 1 mpg better than right over 70. The first few trips I stayed between 65 and 70 because of the new engine but went about 73 on this last trip.

Re: Pleasantly surprized 3.6L mileage

Im getting 19.1 mpg in mine. I only have about 600 miles on it. Does the mpg get better as the engine breaks in?
