For me taste....

I'm liking the new Nissan Murano.

It has no off road chops tho.

The CVT gives almost 30 mpg highway.

Problem is Nissan dealership standards are lower than Chrysler's(from my experience).

WK2s are great
The Jeep dealerships lack the pride the Jeep owners have.

Re: Please Help Getting Weak looking at 4Runners :(

I am looking to buy as well and was concerned about Jeep reliability. But most of the above comments are anecdotal at best, and looks are subjective. (Though the GC is OBjectively one of the best looking vehicles on the road )
Checking the 2015 JD Power reliability rankings, responses for three years ownership, we find Toyota 3rd best with 111 problems per 100 vehicles; industry average 147; and Jeep toward the bottom with a 197 score. In other words, a new Toyota is likely to have one problem in three years and a Jeep two problems.
However, it should be noted that Jeep took a hit for the 2014MY due primarily to electronic and software issues. Most of these issues have been addressed, based on what Iíve read, and Iíd expect 2015 GCs to approach industry average (1.5 problems). Further, these JD Power scores include owners that canít figure something out. Canít get your iPod to play? Thatís a full hit. Given the nature of the GCs issues in 2014, itís fair to assume its low score had less to do with actually running reliability, though there were transmission issues Ė something reported by 30% of all makes, according to JDP.
Anyway, bottom line: I intend to buy a GC. I love the looks and what it offers and believe the reliability is really not any worse than industry average at this point.

OP - get whatever you want and makes you happy. You're the one paying the money for it.

Others won't like the styling. Others won't like the power train. Others will have gripes about this and about that. Some won't like anything about it. Do your homework - look at known maintenance issues, Consumer Reports data, etc. Make an informed decision, but make it yours.

Come on now...Land Cruiser, 4 Runner, Supra, Celica - that makes at least 4 great Toyota cars of the 90s. Only one remains in production today with dismal sales numbers in US but appreciated nevertheless.

I don't know why anyone would even want a 4Runner...they have got to be the the most outdated looking and ugly SUV on the market today...along with the Tacoma pickup.

Modern styling has really taken a back seat over the past few years at Toyota.

Please Help Getting Weak looking at 4Runners :(

We had a '14 Limited. Got rid of it quickly do to not being able to live with the fact that it drove like a semi. It drove worse than any pickup I have ever owned, and I own a portion of a trucking company so that should say a lot!

The styling is VERY subjective, I won't lie though. My wife and I kinda liked how it looked. And it did get compliments frequently. The backseat was very roomy. I have two kids in child seats. It got better MPG than then suggested EPA. Was extremely sturdy, no creaking or rattling... Ever.

The 20" rims only had 7" wide tires. It looked very weird. Narrow. And the tire selection is slim for a rim the tall and narrow...

Buying the Limited, one thing we missed was the power lift gate. Seriously... Very spoiled by that feature. And we live down a dirt road so every time that lift gate would slam shut, dirt goes flying everywhere. Lame.

One more very small detail. The smart key (key fob) was probably the ugliest cheapest looking little fob I had ever seen. And no remote start

Heh, unless they have redesigned this in the past year, the 5th gen 4Runner (i.e. current model) factory remote start *stops* the engine when the driver door is opened. So, you have to crank the engine again once you get to the vehicle.

Talk about a brain damaged design.

^^Oh man that sounds pretty jacked up. I had no idea remote start was a factory on them to begin with... I guess it's better than nothing, but still sounds dumb if you have to restart it when you get in.

Re: Please Help Getting Weak looking at 4Runners :(

I admittedly looked at the previous generation 4-Runner before buying my GC. Like others have said, the interior was dated and the tech was horribly outdated. But, Toyota does have solid engines and at the time, you could get an AWD 4-Runner. The new ones, forget about it. Only a V6 option, no AWD and not as comfortable. Yeah, it's good off-road...but it's a pig on road. The GC is the best of both worlds unless you're doing rock crawling. Better interior, more comfortable, better tech and better engine choices now. I'd probably buy a Highlander before I touched a Runner, but I'm not willing to give up true AWD for a FWD based system. I'd probably look into leasing a Benz, Audi or BMW if I couldn't get a GC anymore.
