Re: Please Help Getting Weak looking at 4Runners :(

Never looked at a 4 Runner before I bought my Summit. Sold my Tacoma about a month before getting the Summit and it was super uncomfortable for longer than a 2 hour road trip. Seats were hard. I had the offroad package on it, but I didn't think the ride was that bad, but the Summit is tons nicer. Since the Tacoma is based off the 4 Runner chasis, I took a pass.

I have a couple neighbors that have a couple. One has a gen 1 (Hilux with a the removable top). he just bought a new one. Not a real fan of the front either, but it is growing on me. The new ones look really bulky compared to the earlier models. Plus everyone I have heard that road in one, talked about the stiff bumpy ride.

I was actually considering getting a Toyota or a Nissan before I settled on the WK2. I talked to a mechanic I know and trust around here, and his comment on those two brands (N and T) was that they're both great cars... for him. Apparently the newer models are infinitely less reliable than the brands are reputed to be. His exact comment was that he'd make a hell of a lot of money off me because they'd both be in the shop, and they'd both cost a ton to fix every single time.

So you're referring to the Jeep being the reliable one of the 3? I'm sorry but I think that the 4Runner is. The engine and transmission are both old, tried and true. And there is practically no electronics in the vehicle compared to most new ones.

More along the lines that when the Jeep breaks (not if) its cheaper to repair and replace parts than a Toyota or a Nissan. Again, this was coming from a mechanic that I actually trust, which is d***n near impossible to find it seems.

Ask your mechanic buddy if I can borrow his crystal ball.

Sorry, but when anyone makes a blanket statement like that, they lose a lot of credibility in my book.

Re: Please Help Getting Weak looking at 4Runners :(

My good friend has a new 4 runner. It has a great look to it, very aggressive and capable looking. However the interior is large plastic buttons and a very non luxury layout. The windshield is pretty small and it rides like a pickup truck.

I think the GC and 4runner are two totally different vehicles. The 4 runner has a more aggressive face and interior. Meant for either true offroading or looking like you do. The GC is more refined. Definitely as capable if not more than the 4runner, but could double as a luxury SUV just as it could off road
