Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

Damn I thought I got a great deal on a new WK. I paid 26k for a new 09 limited when the sticker said 40k. I sometimes wish I got the hemi for another 2k but I didn't know better then.

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

Nate, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a high volume vehicle and if you know exactly what you are looking for and are willing to wait, you can find a 3yr old one with limited miles that can be had for 1/2 off even invoice. For me it is the difference between having a trio of Grands in the stable and having just one with massive pymts. All 3 of my current Grands were purchased when 3 yrs old and between them I didn't pay what a new WK2 cost even those who are getting them at invoice.

I'll save buying new for a vehicle that is produced in fairly limited numbers and which loses very little value the first 3 yrs. Just a different way of looking at things and what one considers to be fiscally prudent.

Been doing it that way for years and will continue to do so as long as their are folks willing to pay top dollar for a Grand and then sell it when it is hardly even broken in.

Like I said above folks, please take great car of your new WK2 so I need not do much to it when I pay cash in a few years.

LOL>..so you paid $10k too much for your 07 wk?

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

Exactly what topic is it that you wanted to start with the original post?

I would think that the pic just might suggest that you feel a bit violated by the price you paid for your WK2. Then again, I have been accused of posting half asleep and being about as dumb as a box of rocks by a few of the boys on my ignore user list.

Carry on with whatever the topic may be, as there's little use in discussing the value of purchasing new vs used with most folks...........

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

Yeah I think I'm going to buy used next. But when I was getting my jeep the finance guy left some important details out. Originally I was getting a new silver larado with x-package. I negotiated the price and there was a balloon paylent of 5k at the end of the loan. then I went to a Limited and negotiated a price. The monthly payment went up but he failed to tell me the balloon went from 5k to 8k. I realized that when I went to pick up the jeep and was sitting down signing all the paperwork. I started adding up numbers and it wasn't making sense.

Also with the extended warranty I purchased I got a "discount". The way they made up the discount was they still charged me the full amount of the warranty but they lowered my APR to compensate for the amount discounted. I asked him WTF cause I have excellent credit. How come I didn't get the lower interest before. He pretty much put on an academy award wining performance about how everything works and at that point I was like F*CK IT just give me the f*cking jeep. So I got the limited and refinanced through my credit union to get rid of the balloon payment.

Also they will tell you that you can refinance after 3 month of payments with your own bank but that's not true. You can refinance ASAP just they will get the credit for the loan after 3 months of payments.....

Sorry for the rant...

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

For me, I'd always rather pay extra for a brand new car. I understand that new cars lose value as soon as i pull off the lot. I get it. That doesn't matter to me.

I view automobiles like i view underwear and toothbrushes. I'm not having one that someone else had before me. Some people like to save money and buy used, some people dont care about saving the money as long as they get what they want. To each his own....some people think buying new off the lot is a sucker move, some people think buying someone else's problem used is a sucker move.

I will say this, there is nothing like a "brand new" car. The smell, seeing 0 on the odometer, knowing you are the first person to drive the car, and for a wk2 overland, knowing you are the first person in the area with one, seeing heads turn when you drive by, none of those things can be experienced with a used car. But, like I said, to each his own, and a brand new car to me, please.

Have i changed your mind yet? No? It's cool.

Lowering the interest rate when the extended warranty is included is normal. It's because Chrysler finances the extended warranty portion of the loan at a 0% interest rate, so the overall rate drops slightly. Sounds like your guy tried to suggest he was giving you a special 'deal', when he was doing what is required.
