I will say this, there is nothing like a "brand new" car. The smell, seeing 0 on the odometer, knowing you are the first person to drive the car, and for a wk2 overland, knowing you are the first person in the area with one, seeing heads turn when you drive by, none of those things can be experienced with a used car. But, like I said, to each his own, and a brand new car to me, please.

Have i changed your mind yet? No? It's cool.
x2. My Lincoln was one of the "problem" cars that someone else in AK have to deal with now. That engine damn near got overhauled at 25-30K miles. Not to mention the front in damage that it had. I've only had two used cars in my life. One was my Jeep and the other was my SS. My ZJ I got lucky with, my SS... not so much (but I"m not complaining about my SS since I got if for free lol).

Plus if you buy your car (not lease), based on if you drive 12-15K miles per year in 3 years you could turn around and sale it with little to no rollover. You would have paid off half of your car and if you if bought a new car at the end of the year (rebates) you can walk away without being hit hard. If I drove like a normal person and didn't have 56K miles, but had 27K miles on my Lincoln I'm sure that I could have walked away not owing a red penny on that car.

+1 to Joe in PA: it makes no sense economically to buy a new car, ever

+1 to Scott: circa $42k for the o-land kitted out is a great relative value, compared to prior JGC's, or compared to any vehicle in its category, imports included

+1 to Dubwarren, it's a blast just to buy a new car, maybe because it makes no sense economically and is just pure joy (though DW stretched on the toothpaste and underwear analogy, that just sounded like the guy in schmoe's ad, but it was a good pitch)

+1 to JoeSchmoe, I kinda like getting bent over for this one

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

Few people maintain their cars as well I do. I do most of my own work. I bleed the brakes every couple years. I change the oil regularly. I do my own brakes. I make sure the transmission fluid gets serviced. I even changed my own fuel filter (myself) on my car at the 5 year mark to make sure I don't have a fuel pump failure. No way I'm buying someone else's car after 2-3 years of potential neglect. Sure, they may wash it regularly and the paint might look nice, but you don't know what distaster is waiting for you mechanically. If money is tight, buying used makes financial sense. Personally, I'm buying new and paying cash every 5-7 years even if I loose $10-20K over the 7 year period compared to those that bought 2 used vehicles in that same timeframe. Worth the peace of mind to me.

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

I like buying new cause I don't have to worry about any surprise issues. It's brand new and if something goes wrong than it's under warranty. I just like the security of knowing my car is less likely to break down I guess. LOL

Re: Please visit your friendly Jeep dealer today!

I bought it cause of the commercial. I have been telling people that we have to go back to the basics: making things! I want to believe that the commercial was not a scam.

Anyway i hope I helped keep or create a job with my purchase.
