Plow?

I have a grand Cherokee high altitude. Just bought a new house with a newly half mile driveway. Trying to decide if I want to get a plow for my Cherokee or for the 4 wheeler. I'm sure the Cherokee would make quicker work of it (not to mention be heated), but haven't seen anyone with a plow on the newer models. Can you just buy a plow and attach it, or would you have to make major mods?

Re: Plow?

Oh god please do not put a plow on a High Altitude. I would use that option as an absolute last resort. Before that I would either
A. Don't plow at all and just drive over the snow
B. Get a tractor or 4 wheeler and have fun with it
C. Higher someone to do it
D. Buy a cheap dedicated pickup truck to plow
E. Move to a warmer climate

In all seriousness though, I have never seen or heard of a plow setup on a WK2.

I'll second this.
Mounting a plow on a vehicle automatically lowers the resale value as plowing is VERY stressful on the vehicle (not to mention the added maintenance and parts failures).

Also mentioning the WK2 is a unibody, plows are almost always 100% frame mounted.

Re: Plow?

Buy a beater PU for a few grand that has a plow in it already, for the love of God! 😫

Or better yet...a 4WD tractor to not only take care of this need, but many others that come with property ownership.

Re: Plow?

When I saw this thread I thought you might be asking for me , but I see you are asking a legitimate question. Having grown up in the North, I would agree with the other posts; these vehicles really aren't built for plows.

Re: Plow?

I agree don't trash your Jeep.

I think an old pickup will be cheaper, faster and warmer to plow that long a driveway.

Sub-Compact Tractors are really not that great for plowing and will cost a pretty penny.
I own a Kubota (B2320) and I'd never use it for snow work. Some people do it, but a decent setup (front blower) and heated cab. Push Plows are pretty limited on a Sub-COmpact. And Rear blowers (driving in reverse) will be painful for that long a driveway. You're talking $20K new $10K used. Snow blowing 1/2 mile would take a good while.

Full size Tractor would cost more than your Jeep.

Re: Plow?

Greetings,

Yes, the Grand Cherokee can plow snow and it is very simple.

Buy the correct specifications for a real plow using the quoted examples given here. Then goto your local Jeep Parts dealer and purchase a few Grand Cherokee name plates and install them on your plow. Problem solved.

In all seriousness, the cost to modify the frame would be only a few thousand x 2 and destroying everything to make the new connections. Forget about warranty, that was over as soon as the touch hit it. After, you make it work, one good snow storm it will be back in for repairs.

Go see our cousins over at Ram for a used special on something.

Best for now.
