It is scary what they do during emergency avoidance test. What if it did roll over? Do you think they put in a temp roll cage or something like that?

And LOL at climate controls - it is ridiculous to happen on such a new car.

Interesting that it hasn't happened to anyone here. Maybe someone from Toyota tampered with that WK2....

Re: "Poor" rating for emergency maneuver

That really isn't that unstable of a maneuver. The jeep did handle very well in such a high speed test. I was going 35MPG with my 08 tahoe and I slide all the way across 3 lanes and back when I had to swerve to miss someone that pulled out in front of me.

It appeared as though a lot was driver induced. Jerking the steering multiple times during each turn in the manuever. Also this was heavily laden with bad remarks straight from the start. "known for crude interiors and ? handling"

Re: "Poor" rating for emergency maneuver

WK2 is not sport car. In video it handled quite well for such high center of gravity. It was not near roll over, it did not slide, no mark on the test track were damaged, so it stays within the margin. What was so bad???? I do not understand.

It wasn't a Toyota was the problem evidently.

Re: "Poor" rating for emergency maneuver

Jaja.. I am coming off an Audi A4 3.0 Quattro sport package. Great handling. I'm new to the SUV world. I guess that's why I found it scary. Nevertheless, its real soothing to hear all the SUV veterans here go "that's nothing, you should have seen my (insert big @ss SUV name here) when it did cartwheels trying to avoid a vespa"...

Re: "Poor" rating for emergency maneuver

I have to agree it didn't do bad for what it is. I wrung out a base Laredo 4x4 not too long ago and felt it was downright sporty compared to my Expedition. In the world of Consumer Reports, if they tested aircraft it would be like getting out of a Pitts S2 (stunt plane) after some aerobatics and then jumping into a C-130 (militray cargo plane) for comparison of the same thing then complaining that the C-130 is dangerous doing those quick-hard-fast maneuvers.

Consumer Reports has ALWAYS made me gag on its vehicle tests; their people do not understand anything about cars and trucks and I tend to agree that they are biased on almost everything they say/print.

Vespa = very small speed bump. Now that should've been part of the CR obstacle course.

"Dood, did you hear that?"

"What?"

"Uh, nothing, those M/T rubbers sure smooth out uneven tarmack."
