Re: Portable Air Compressor

I posted this in another thread, but a nitrogen cylinder has the capability to charge 4 tires in the 31x10x20 range twice from 0 psi. Granted its a little big. 6" x 24". they come charged at 2000 psi. First time cost is about $200.00 and then it is 25 bucks for an exchange. I was looking at mounting 2 of them under the vehicle where that rather large void is on the WK2. It is enough regulated volume to even run air tools. just an alternative thought.

To state the obvious, select the 0-60 PSI model. Besides the fact that this is needed because of the GC pressure requirements, dial gauges are most accurate around mid-scale.

Re: Portable Air Compressor

On mopar.com if you look up OEM parts (parts diagrams) for the 2011 GC and go to wheels/jack stowage it lists a compressor for $109. It's under the OEM parts so at one time it must have been destined for inclusion in the builds? Anybody seen one of these things?

Re: Portable Air Compressor

Check out this one: http://www.amazon.com/Goodyear-i7000...7744728&sr=8-1

I have had that one for 3 years now. Comes with a nice case, and is quite beefy. It is well worth it's $50 price, and fits in the compartments around the spare.

Pretty funny that I start this topic and the very next day I get a nail in my tire...

Thankfully I was able to plug it with this! +1 to my Man Score

My only concern is if it has the power to actually lift the Jeep. It needs to be powerful enough to inflate a set of Lifttrax while under the jeep if need be.

"You get what you pay for" has never been more true when it comes to car tools. I really don't want something to fail when I really need it.

Re: Portable Air Compressor

Could be the unit draws more amperage than the cigarette fuse can handle. Not the units fault. Does the rear outlet use a larger fuse?

Seems like another point for the ARB one that hooks up to the battery terminals. Also has a 40 AMP fuse.

Re: Portable Air Compressor

This one is pretty nice 45 amps, battery hook up, carrying case, quick fill times, all for $130.00.
