I only like chrome on the wheels, painted every else.

Re: Possible Solution for Body Colored Mirror Covers

actually, now that i think about it - maybe i'll just buy a set of the chrome covers and have *those* painted. that way, if the paint doesn't hold up for some reason i can always go back to the original ones.

Re: Possible Solution for Body Colored Mirror Covers

also - i want to get the back chrome trim piece on the liftgate painted body color. i think i found it on trademotion, but i want to make sure i have the right one. i have a 2012 overland. would it be the one that says backup camera-all?

the reason i am going to buy an additional chrome piece is because i want to keep the original for when i sell.

Re: Possible Solution for Body Colored Mirror Covers

Check the SRT section of jeep garage. There's a thread about it and someone listed the part #. I'm replacing that chrome with brilliant black too, but I'm just going to wait for the new "Black Edition" or "Altitude" (whatever the Name it) to come out and then get that part so it will be already painted.

any idea when the new jeep will come out? i figured it could be a good long while before it comes out and parts are available. do you think they'll have BB mirror covers too? maybe i should just wait . . .

Possibly this May I've read. My guess is the mirrors can only be ordered as entire mirror assemblies. They will be body colored (so brilliant black on all brilliant black colored G.C.s) like the Laredo.

I tried to plasti dip it twice now but I can't get it to look even without sanding it. I plasti dipped the grill and it looks great, but that piece is really tricky.

Re: Possible Solution for Body Colored Mirror Covers

i ended up buying two brilliant black laredo mirrors from a trademotion site. it was a big PITA because they kept telling me the mirrors wouldn't swap with mine, no matter how many times i explained that i just wanted the caps. for the most part everyone told me it wasn't possible to swap out the caps. thanks to this forum, i know that it is!

two mirrors were about $225. i also got the black step up pad (under the liftgate) and a replacement chrome trim piece above the license plate that i'm going to have scott paint.

can't wait to get rid of some of this chrome! i'm also going to pull off the door trim pieces.
