Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

Just got a call from the local service department manager. There is currently no way to add the back up camera to the Laredo E

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

I had a Laredo e I added it was simple but mine is a 13 I wonder all I had to do was put in a 430n and add the camera very simple yet expensive.... It may be that the radio in a 14 e without the nav package is just like the res radio in a 13 Laredo e... You may have to upgrade the radio (if that is possible in a 14)... Going to be a an expensive upgrade mine cost me around 2,000 everything installed and parts so idn ... Good luck!

You can not change out radios in the 2014. Different architecture in these than previous models

Like I said before though, all 3 radios are capable of using the rear camera, it is just about finding out how...

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

Looked t a couple of Laredos today, neither the one with the 5" screen or the one with the 8.4" screen had the rear view camera. Bummer...

Anybody know if there is a way to install the camera and get the screen to work?

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

Read early in the 14 features and changes thread... the architecture is different in the models of the GC for the my14 year. It does suck... they have made these models less "moddable" :-(

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

I saw literature that Chryler projects that the Limited will be the volume sales model and that the laredo model is slated at smaller percentage of the sales at less than 20%

So they are pushing some buyers into a preowned jeep with the features they want or into a more expensive model.

The modular nature of the vehicles has not changed so aftermaket may be the answer to adding camera to a 2014 laredo.

I guess the Laredo X was there as a place holder for the longtime customers that could closely equip a Laredo to near a limited trim.

But since the word limited got thrown around so much they figured lets do two versions of the limited instead of making three versions of the laredo ( Laredo, Laredo E, Laredo X) like they did in the past.

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

Not quite, in the past the "E" group was an option that was mandatory for many things like the towing package. On my '12 both Uconnect and E were seperate options.

Apparently CJF decided they need a version to hit a price point but not one they ever wanted to sell (for fleet, agency, department buyers probably) to individuals. So they made anything a buyer should want unavalable (can't even get the towing option).

For '14 they have also deeply integrated the radios (GM got in a lot of trouble about something similar back in the '70s AFAIR.)

No camera was available for mine either so I just added a wireless unit and a stalk from Amazon to mine, otherwise the only safe way to reverse is with the tailgate open.

I do not bother with factory systems anyway, entertainment/diagnostics/GPS/surfing is all on a tablet I move between cars. The next iteration (have all the pieces) will integrate the back up camera.

Is anyone else bothered by all of the ads for something you either cannot buy or can only buy in a specific configuration ??

Re: Possible to Add RearView Camera to 2014 Laredo E?

I just got my Laredo E this weekend with 8.4 radio group. There no rear view camera but we asked the dealership if we can add one. They say yes for $500 (I think lol) yeah is a lot but we figure is much cheaper to pay 4k for limited (Personal hate.. not because of price but feel Limited have to much chrome to be a Jeep).

We're waiting for the dealer to send someone here to install the camera let you know once its finish on how it look.
