Wink Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

I scheduled an appointment to test drive a discounted new 2012 WK2 Laredo X Hemi 4x2 brilliant black on black loaded with sunroof, power liftgate 20'inch wheels tow package etc,but i was wondering how you guys like your hemi? Do you get decent gas mileage and how do you like the power? I love my current 12' WK2 pentastar V6, but i regret that it doesn't have some options i wanted and i cant add. This 12' Laredo X Hemi has everything i want and been insanely discounted and i think i can trade mine without any loss, cause mine only has 4k miles and since the dealers wants to get rid of the 12's, i think there is room for negotiation. Thought id get some input from you guys before i walked in the door in the morning

Re: Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

Why don't you wait until Feb. or later and get a 2014? They will eventually discount the 2014s too so maybe wait for that. I do enjoy the Hemi. I don't think you should down grade to 4x2 though. I get anywhere from 13 to 20 depending how I drive it and traffic, stoplights. I also think the 20 inch wheels, the heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, and leather dash and upper door trim as well as Nappa leather and air suspension are well worth the money the Overland 4x4 Hemi costs.

I'm happy with my Hemi. plenty of power, and decent fuel economy for a near 400hp 5200 pound, full time 4x4 beast.

Re: Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

I definitely would get the hemi. For the difference in mpg id rather have the bigger engine and know I have the power available if needed. Ive yet to ever regret getting the bigger engine. But as jgc4ever stated, going for the 4x4 and waiting a bit would be a much better upgrade to have with the hemi.

Re: Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

I don't quite follow the logic why they want to blow out one 2012 at discount but are offering top dollar to get your used 2012 back on the lot. Seems to good to be true but, if it is true, then it seems like a no brainier. Usually these type of deals result in at least a few thousand loss, and if it does, then I personally don't think it's worth it.

Re: Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

The V6 owners don't like to hear this view, but here it is anyway...it's my honest feeling after driving the V6 and I own the Overland with Hemi.

Assuming the money is not a barrier, the Overland with Hemi is THE best way to enjoy this truck. The feel of the Hemi is just right for the fairly heavy GC and you really need to swallow hard to convince yourself that the V6 feels close; it doesn't. You don't have to tow stuff or live in the mountains either. The Hemi is smooth, powerful and adds to the feeling of refinement no matter where I drive. My friend has the V6 on a lease and can't wait to trade up to the hemi. I have another friend who had the V6 and quickly traded for the V8. He said that the MPG on the 6 was the same because he was always making it work harder. My friend's V6 gets better MPG, but he has to work hard for it and drive easy. My V8 is not far off his MPG and I'm justing enjoying the truck. If I do go easy I've seen 22-23 MPG highway. After a week of typical driving I got 18 MPG mixed. He's getting 20 MPG.

The Overland is a LUXURY SUV. The V6 is a choice, just like buying the Charger or Mustang with a V6 is a choice. But those are really poor choices if you can afford the power and gas. People often defend the V6 by saying it has power that's comparable to the class. But I bought the Overland because I wanted something BETTER than cars in it's class.

On the other hand, why bother with a 4X2? If you don't need the GC considerable 4x4 abilities there are much better things to buy. I also bet you can get the 4x4 for the same kind of money.

Cheers,

Robert

IMO, both the 3.6L and the 5.7L is below their class.

Anyway, I can't see going from a 4wd to a 2wd. Plus that will hurt you in the resale.

My current Wk2 is a 2wd also so it wont make a difference.

Sorry, for some reason I thought you was going from a 4wd to a 2wd. I guess if you can get the new car without rolling over anything then that would be good.

Re: Possible trade for a WK2 Hemi, need advice from hemi owners

So you're expecting them to sell you their 2012 at a dirt cheap price, despite the fact that the WK2 is selling well, and give you top dollar for your lower model 2012? AND then pay the sales tax for you?

All I can say is, good luck.

I'm not expecting anything,If the deal works out then great, if not then i wont loose any sleep over it and just keep my current WK2. Ive been a long time customer and they always gave me a good price on my trades and new vehicles, so they will do anything to keep my business, as soon as i head out the door i get " wait a minute we can work it out for you"... stayed tuned...
