Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

At about 1200mi I have an overall average of 18.3 with 30 of it via highway (with tolls, etc) and I am not shy about using the loud pedal to get by someone.

I did a longer trip up into the mountains and managed to bring my overall moving average up to 20mpg. I am sure if I tracked a single tank on a longer trip I'd be up around 22 maybe even 23.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

I just took a trip from Long Island to New Hampshire and back. 222 miles each way and averaged 22.0 mpg in mostly Eco mode in my 2014 5.7. I took it out of eco mode and went into sport mode a few times to have some fun. My local driving (90% city) however is at about 11.3. Both according to the EVIC.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

Took a 600 mile trip. All HWY, averaging nearly 23 mpg. This is for a 14 5.7 in eco mode. Drove at mostly 80 mph. I'm sure if I were to keep it at around 60 I would get higher. This was what the EVIC read.

Wow, that 11.3 number sounds really low. How many miles on the Jeep do you have?

I just looked at the EVIC and I have 2029 miles and averaging 17.3. The trip I just took was 444 miles from NY to NH and back. I also did a descent amount of highway driving while I was up there during the weekend and the roads in general are not like Long Island. Locally around Long Island I was getting 11.3 before the trip. I cannot say that I bury my foot in it either.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

The V6 has plenty of power.

You want sport mode, put it in sport mode.

Those MPG numbers are terrible.

I checked my B-Trip computer which has never been reset with 1300 miles with city and highway mix, mostly highway.

25.6 mpg for 1300 miles.

The thing is a rocket in sport mode.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

My 4x4 5.7 V8 is getting between 8 - 9 mpg in the city in ECO mode. On the highway at about 80 mph I get between 19 - 21 mpg. I am pretty dissapointed in my city mileage but I do admit to having a heavy foot. Love the acceleration, handling, ride, everything but the mileage. Glad to hear it is not just me!!! Does everyone else getting the lower mileage have 4X4?

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

Yeah, im sorry but people who say they get high teens in city driving are full of crap or drive around at 5 MPH or dont know what city driving is.

This engine will not get over 15 mpg in the city...and 15 is with rolling through stop signs.

Even the v6 wont get 19/20 in REAL city driving. Its not happening folks. Sorry.

Also, 21-24 MPG highway is nothing to be happy about. A 500 HP sports car does better than this. Getting low 20's on hwy mph is pretty standard. Even Hummers can do it.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

My wifes 14 GC with 800 miles is averaging 17.2 and gets better every time i get in it. All suburb driving. The few trips ive gotten it on the interstate I get 23-24 at 70, or 21-22 at 80. Which is good to me. Her 06 commander got a best of 15 avg in the same conditions. And a hummer H3 might get that kind of millage, not a H2.

My sierra with the 5.3 gets 20 at 70 and 15 at 80.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

Thought I would revive this thread since I could be in a situation where I get the V8 Overland instead of my trouble ridden V6... Average driving for me in my V6 is about 18mpg.

How are V8 Overland owners doing now? (only reason I specify Overland is because I think I remember reading that the Overland is the heaviest trim).

Summit is heaviest trim.
Overland is what last years Limited used to have...

My combined is running about 18.3 after 6500 miles.
That's very steep mountain driving, and suburban driving where there are stoplights
but the stretches between them are 45-60 mph, not city crawling--in other words if lucky at lights, aero mode may stay on for most of the trip.

Highway cruising is about 20.8, but the highways aren't exactly flat, although this is in eco mode and aero.

Closest I have been to real city mode is running sport mode on snaky mountain roads, and there it dropped to high 14s. Luckily I don't have to drive in a city, particularly not a very big one.
