Probably 3-4 mpg more the way we drive.. I've been driving in sport now and man I love this car! Lol my gas mileage is going to get worst but bro the difference in response is way more fun lol I feel like I'm actually driving something sporty... I'm gonna do a fill and drive it in sport to see what I get..

V8s are always going to get you bad city miles is just how they are. The v6 probably will get you 3 mpg more(epa numbers), the way i look at it is do you really want to do that for 3 mpg? If there was a more substantial difference might be something to think about but for me a gain like that was never a thought. everyone is different though some may really want those couple of mpg and careless about extra power. I didnt buy a heavy 50k suv like this to split hairs on mileage but generally it has been better than i was expecting and highway has been a lot better than expected due probably to the MDS. If you do want to save a few bucks put 87 in i could never tell much of a difference between 87 and 89.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

I've been getting around 12 or so for my last few V8 GC's so used to it. I really can't imagine having a vehicle that gets 20+...would be nice. If I was putting a ton of miles on each year perhaps I would choose a higher MPG option. But I REALLY like the V8 power!

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

2014 GC Summit with Hemi. OD shows 6819 mi. MPG reads 20.1 for those miles. 80% hwy & 20% town. Mostly use cruise control on hwy & drive between 65 & 75. Don't know if that is accurate or not as I have never hand calculated. Took one 2800 mi round trip.

Wife did not want the diesel. Test drove the V6 & it downshifted 3-4 gears going up a hill with 3 adults & no luggage in the car. HEMI decision was easy. Have not been disappointed.

POST 2014 V8 MPG's

I averaged 13L/km or 18mpg on an approx 400km round trip with a small amount of city driving. 2014 Limited Hemi. Ave hwy speed was 130km/hr or 80mph. Engine revs at about 1900rpm at that speed. I enjoy the Hemi.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

With about 7,000 miles on the clock I get around 19 on the highway running 72 with the cruise control on. I do very little "city" driving but a mix of rural roads and some highway. In that kind of mixed driving its around 17. That's hand calculated. I find the instrument panel mpg is usually about 1 mpg Optimistic. Yea I do drive like an old man usually.

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

On my round trip to Moab, Utah from Payson, Arizona I got 23.4 . . . that's roughly 1000 miles. I was pretty amazed. I weigh 240, my wife is 120, and my dog weighs 80 lbs. Now add two camera bags stuffed and clothes, etc for 5 days. No head wind or tail wind. Started at 5,000'. climbed to 8,000 feet, and down to 4,000' . . . and then reversed. Mostly flat highway. I traveled the speed limit plus 2-5 mph over except on I-40 where 75 mph was just fine (speed limit). City mileage varies as I live in a small town. Seems to be around 15 to 17.

I used cruise control (adaptive) whenever possible and in ECO mode the entire trip. A/C on most of the way. Not terribly hot. Passed folks when necessary. I am not really a slow driver - about average?

I had replaced the original stock Goodyear Fortera with Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus with a V speed rating (higher) and more weight - 41 lbs for the Dueler and 34 lbs for the Fortera. (thicker side walls, stronger tire). 260 and A/A rating.

As the two tires are almost identical in revolutions per mile (less than 1%) there had to be some other factors at work. Used regular grade gasoline. The Feds say 20 mpg with mid grade gasoline. The Bridgestones are pricey and the Alenza Plus is supposed to provide better mileage. Harder rubber?? Tire pressure was 36 lbs cold - as specified. Transmission is 8 speed with Fuel Saver Technology (extra).

How the F are you getting an average hwy only of 25 MPG?

I don't believe that at all.
Perhaps you have a high proportion of ethanol?

I've tried to drive my GC like a granny taking a nap... and struggled to pop 20.
Perhaps you have a high proportion of ethanol in your gas? I can get 25 mpg on flat roads at 65 . . . except I can't drive that slow.

That's good, highway cruising the V8 does return good numbers. using the cruise control like you did helps it out a lot, keeps the MDS on longer so you are staying on 4 cylinders more vs not using it and always taping the gas all the time and bumping it in and out of MDS a lot. I get similar mpg to that when highway cruising on trips. I dumped the forteras also and put Michelins on.
