I was under the rear end of my GC painting the rusty exhaust brackets and flanges yesterday. I found what could be a potential problem in the left rear corner.
There's a group of (white) wires in flexible black plastic wire wrap that run down from the left rear fender and along the rear bumper. I think they're the wires running to the trailer hitch connector.
I found the wires were touching the left muffler/resonator, and the heat from the exhaust had melted the black wire wrap at the touch point. Luckily the wire insulation looked okay. I repaired the damaged plastic wrap with electrical tape and moved the wires away from the exhaust using a plastic wire tie. I'm guessing the wire insulation could be damaged over time from the heat, causing a potential electrical short.
I suggest you check your GC's to see if you have the same issue and, if so, move the wires as far away from the exhaust as possible.
