Power Folding Mirrors - How Many Time?

OK - here is a weird observation, did you know that even with my 2014 running and in park, there is a limit to how many times you can fold in and out the power folding mirrors (eventually the button doesn't work again either with a time limit or you have to turn the vehicle on or off again)? Try it...how many times do you get?

P.S. You may be asking yourself how the heck did you discover this weird thing....well....someone put something on my passenger's mirror and was just trying to see if folding in and out it would fall off before driving away.

Re: Power Folding Mirrors - How Many Time?

You need to stop smoking meth before getting in the car.

I have and continue to open and shut them multiple times when I was the car. So far I have not hit a limit, but I think I have only gotten to about 3 cycles.

Re: Power Folding Mirrors - How Many Time?

My previous car had a similar issue with electric door locks.

The manufacturer has used a thermal fuse for the power circuit. This is just in case the motor remains on (if the limit switch fails). This prevents a fire situation from an overheated motor. The thermal fuse will reset after a period of time.

Jeep may also have a thermal fuse to stop this issue.

Re: Power Folding Mirrors - How Many Time?

^^^ Oh no....of course not. It was a carpenter's pencil (the flat kind) that I think the cleaning person must have picked up and placed there. It is like one of those claw machines to win a toy...it was allllllmost falling off, close but no cigar each time I folded and unfolded the mirrors. It only gave me a so many chances...then stopped and there was no place to insert another quarter. LOL The real question is, who will try it and see what the number really is?

You could have opened the window, grabbed the 9mm out of the console and been done with it!

The answer I got was 10 (5 fold/unfold cycles)...in case you were wondering.

And you are likely the only person on earth to have discovered that. Why...we may never know. Because...you know...it's totally natural to just sit there and fold and unfold your mirrors repeatedly. Personally, I think this is just another sign of how bad Chrysler had gotten and this warrants a complete safety recall. Just imagine the horror when that desperate situation arises for the 5th time and they won't fold!

Perhaps my GC qualifies for the Lemon Law!!!

This thread turned out less entertaining than I thought it would be...maybe I should stick to the April Fool's jokes.
