Careful ... you're in serious danger of somebody here telling you you're a moron and have no business driving in the first place.

Luckily the car was on a slight down slop which kept it from backing over me. Now I admit this is driver error, but I've been driving over 50 years, and have never, I repeat, never had an accident. So I'm not prone to doing stupid or careless things while driving. However, with this shifter, it's just too easy to screw up....shifting should be intuitive....in the jeep gc it isn't. I for one, would not be unhappy with a retro-fit for a new shifter.
Didn't you notice the backup camera came on the screen? I'm not trying to be cute or sarcastic, just trying to understand how people accidentally place it in reverse without noticing.... perhaps yours GC doesn't have a back up camera?

I agree and often wonder about this myself.

Personally, the only major issue I have with this shifter is the transition from DRIVE to REVERSE. I've had my WK2 go into Neutral instead of Park a few times but when that happens, it is very noticeable to me. I've never had it go into Reverse instead of Park.

A person should not have to go through multiple steps just to put vehicle in park....

What multiple steps? Push the button slam it to park and be done

And I've NEVER, in all of those years, had as much trouble operating an automatic shifter, as I've had with my '15 Jeep GC.

This Jeep is the ONLY vehicle I've ever driven, where I have to make a conscious effort, to determine what position the gear selector is in. My previous "winter driver" was an '05 GMC Canyon. Yes, the shifter was on the column, but it was like all my previous vehicles, step on brake, pull shift lever toward you, 3 "clicks" and you're in drive. NO PROBLEM! My previously owned '96 Z/28 Camaro. Automatic on the floor......step on brake and push button down on the shifter with palm of hand, 3 "clicks" and you're in drive. Completely intuitive!!

This Jeep is NOT intuitive, end of story!

Yeah but they're all morons who have no business driving in the first place. (You can include me in that group.)

Hey maybe it's one of those things like tongue rolling - some folks just can't do it.
