Preparing to remove the front bumper on a 2012

Guys- having a hard time finding clear and concise information on here regarding the front bumper removal/installation process on a WK2. I am going to be doing a OEM bixenon upgrade next week on my 2012 and I want to make sure I have no surprises.

I read on here I will need a plastic rivet gun to replace un-reusable rivets that break during the removal process. Can anybody elaborate on this exactly?

I found this reinstallation step in a PDF file showing a rivet gun being used....

via this PDF: http://blueox.com/Uploads/Docs/BX1128.pdf

Is it necessary to purchase a rivet gun kit off a site like ebay or can simple plastic push pins be used at that inner wheel well location?

Any advice would be helpful - thanks in advance fellas

Re: Preparing to remove the front bumper on a 2012

I removed my front bumper cover 4 different times. Easy. I just pry the rivets out of the wheel well with a screwdriver and pliers, and each time I put the same ones I pulled out right back in place. Haven't needed a rivet gun.

Thanks for the reply dude. I figured better to be safe than sorry. Regarding the fender trim: how did that go for you?

Agree- better to have the new rivets even if you don't need them. The whole process is really easy. I used a DIY thread I found on here somewhere the first time I did this. Once the screw and rivets come out of the wheel wells, the fender just peels apart and the whole thing comes off. I did it myself, but not a bad idea to have another set of hands to hold one side of the bumper so you can let it down gently.

Nice looking ride you have- good luck with this!
