I am not sure if this is the correct place and if not I apologize and please move.

How many of you pressure wash you vehicles and could you give me specifics. I do not own a pressure washer but will buy one for the sake of keeping my black vehicle the best it can be including care products. I loathe going through car washes automatic but is a must in winters in Michigan and want to avoid manual coin operate car washes. Thoughts please.

I really like this thought process https://surfcitygarage.com/mtm-hydro-foam-cannon.html

Don't bother buying a pressure washer unless it heats up the water. Period.

Check out foam cannons - Chemical Guys - if you get a chance.

As long as a good washer will last you want to buy the best you can afford and heated is definitely better. Anything you do with cold can be done 1.5 times faster Heated and the user doesn't freeze as bad in cold weather as a bonus....?

The heated option is nice, particularly for when your vehicle gets an undercoating of ice thick enough to drag on the road and it is so far below freezing that it would take months to get it off with cold water.
It doesn't take a lot of heat...

If you have a good pressure washer, and your hose attach can be connected to a combination hot/cold water like a garage sink, you can get the same benefit, just be careful not to use pure hot water. Works like a charm, and if you just keep it "warm" won't trip the overtemperature on a high pressure gas washer.

Still freezes faster than you get rinse it, but ya can't have everything.

Pressure washing will never clean as well as a proper hand wash. It's great to have a pressure washer though, especially with a foam lance (foam is a necessity for a proper wash) ,but not worth the hassle in the winter IMO, heated or not. I just go to the touchless auto wash for those months. Sometimes I'll spray it down myself just to get the undercarriage really well. Otherwise a GOOD, modern automatic wash can do a damn good job. I've seen some crappy, outdated automatic washes though, but luckily the one by my home is brand new/modern.

I only hand wash my jeep, but use a pressure washer for the initial rinse and foaming to break up any dirt (which is far superior than any garden hose) and then for a final rinse at the end when i'm done.

* Works really well on our felt wheel wells, which dirt really likes to cling on to.
