Exactly. Much higher profit margin than auto sales.

I was wondering the same thing. Glad to know there should be no problem taking my new jeep to a dealer more close by than the Bronx which is over an hour away and about $15 in tolls. The sales people at the dealers close by we're jerks, I hope the service is better.

Car sales people would love for us to think it would make a difference.

Re: Purchase from one dealer, service from another.

I tried to buy my Overland locally and I had a problem with the sales reps at all three nearby dealers. They insisted on selling me a 2011 even though I clearly stated that I wanted a 2012. I ended up ordering the WK2 from a dealer 240 miles away. Obviously service was not going to work there. I went to the nearest dealer and I have worked with the same service advisor for 7 months. Great service and they have "do what it takes" attitude. Could not be happier. So the short answer is go where it is convenient. The dealers love service revenue.

Re: Purchase from one dealer, service from another.

I gave my selling dealer a full year to do my service calls and show what they could do, even though they were on the far side of town. But after a few silly things (like claiming my tire wear bars were showing, when the tread was only half used up) they are no longer my service spot. A nearer dealer has given me better service with an in-store rental and that's where the Jeep will go from now on.
