Purchased 2013 Grand Cherokee Limited. Didn't know the 2014s would be out so soon.

Let me say I'm so glad to be part of the Jeep community and forum. This is my first Jeep and I must say the new Grand Cherokees are awesome! I wish I was part of this forum before purchasing as I was not aware of the short model year and all the new features of the 2014 refresh. I recently purchased a 2013 Limited V6 that had 600 miles on it that the manager was driving. I can't do anything now but I want to get everyone's opinion on if it was at least a good enough deal to justify the 13 over waiting for the 14 and possibly paying more. And I wonder if the 14 is going to make me want it that I try to get out of the 13. I can only imagine how much of a hit it would be. Also I do love the jeep and it has been great so far. I have a ton of features and got everything I wanted. I originally wanted the v8 though but they didn't have a limited v8 on the lot. They had one Laredo v8 but I ended up making the decision to get the limited that did have everything else I wanted, and it would save me a little in gas. Purchase price was 37,500 (sticker was 41,300) and I got a great interest rate for financing. Seemed like a great deal and didn't want to pass it up. Now that I joined the forum I've learned about the new model, features, v8 vs v6 etc. What do you guys think? Any advice for this new jeep owner would be greatly appreciated. I'll try and post some pics too, as I'm always up for comments and making it look better or doing modifications. Thanks again, and glad to be here.

Congrats. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Don't worry about the MY14's.

Agreed... don't feel bad about your purchase, as there will always be something better just around the corner. No sense feeling bad about having such a great car, as many folks are having the opposite issue as you (holding out for the MY14 but wishing they could have a new ride now!).

Congrats on your purchase!

One way to look at is that there is really no deprecation if you drive it til it is worn out... .

Re: Purchased 2013 Grand Cherokee Limited. Didn't know the 2014s would be out so soon

I am new to the forum and was drawn immediately to this thread because in 2 days I am picking up a factory-delivered 2013 brilliant white, saddle interior, Adaptive CC jeep grand cherokee overland-- my first personal vehicle ever! I waffled on the 2014 question for MONTHS (nearly bought a 2012!) because I love the idea of 8 speed transmission and a diesel engine for MPG improvement. But here's why what we have done makes sense; I wouldn't have wanted a new-off-the-line 2014 with a plethora of new hardware. I'd have kicked myself if it came down with any reliability question marks for not waiting 2-3 years for growing pains on the new model. Whereas the 2013 is the last and best(?) of a tried and true assembly process. Cheers to us, and if I trade in for a 38mpg 2017 8-speed JGC that I love even more, then I'm saving up some happy moments for later, too!

Re: Purchased 2013 Grand Cherokee Limited. Didn't know the 2014s would be out so soon

Haha you guys are great. Sometimes I need to be thankful for what I got! The jeep is great and the 2013 definitely has most kinks worked out. I still think about the V8 and if I should have waited but the deal I got outweighs the added benefit for me. I probably won't tow so the added mpg will be a plus. Juggernaughty that's a great point, and I should just keep this til the 2017 model or just drive it til the wheels fall off. Plus who knows there may be some easy mods to do from the 2014 model. Maybe something like LED tails would be an easy install. Small projects are always fun. I hope to get this jeep on an easy-moderate trail soon. I've never had a jeep before and now that I have one how can I not see what they are capable of. The v6 seems more than adequate for most trails, with the QT2. The QD with lift would have been even better but again I got a great deal. Feeling better already. Jeep owners rock!

I bought mine (2012 Laredo, V6, QTII) two months ago and LOVE IT. If I wanted to buy a new GC again now under the same circumstances I think I would still buy it today and not wait. Great price great car. The 2014 will probably cost a lot more when the models just come out.

I am the same as you, I have a 2012 that I bought in May and the 8 speed would be the only reason for me to trade to a 2014 but it is not a big enough draw for me at least to trade in my 2012. My Jeep is perfect and I love it.

Kind of in the same boat ordered a 2013 Altitude and now comes the Trailhawk but oh well, it is what it is.
