PWC Towing Question

Will I have any problems towing 2 - 780lb Wave Runners and a 480lb trailer Totaling 2040lbs with my 2014 V6 Grand Cherokee 4WD? and should I install a transmission cooler?

*No tow package, just Jeep installed OEM hitch and software update.

Thanks!

I can't speak to the cooler though I think it's probably a good idea. I towed my Ski Nautique (about 3500lbs) with my 2012 V6 4 times a week for a year without issues. The V8 is better, but the V6 was fine.

Re: PWC Towing Question

I doubt you will have problems with that level of load...which with whatever your trailer weights is likely under something like 2500 lbs...

Re: PWC Towing Question

The need for a tranny cooler is directly related to hardship on the tranny (i.e. how hot you gonna get it). That is most affected by load weight, load design and load duration. Your load weight is a 1/3 of max so no strain there. Your load design is lower profile so flat walled trailer with heavy wind resistance so no strain there. Unless you are long pull towing from sea level to a mountain lake (i.e. up/down hill driving with surging) no strain there. Weather (ambient temp) can also me a multiplier if excessive.

No cooler needed. BTW, keep the tongue weight on that load to 200-300 lbs.

Enjoy your wave-runners.
