Quadra-Drive / Alignment

Does anyone know if there is a special procedure for doing an alignment on a Overland (4x4) with Quadra-Lift? Does it need to be in a special mode or does the suspension need to be "released"? Seems like I've seen one before but couldn't find it in the forum.

My Overland has around 6000 miles and I noticed today that the front tires are starting to feather on the outside treads. Thanks for the help.

Manufactured: Dec 2010.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

Don't worry mine with no QL started at 2,000 miles. Two alignments later still the same. I would assume it should be in normal ride height and have them do a 4 wheel alignment.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

Anyway to get the dealer to cover the alignment, maybe if you bring it to them they can look at it. I can't imagine under normal circumstances you'd need an alignment already which might justify them completing it for free. If you bought new tires, then no luck probably.

Rotating the tires should help.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

The alignment is actually free and covered under warranty for the first year or 12K miles. They have preformed two so far on mine with only 8K miles on it.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

The process is probably the same as on other cars with leveling suspensions. Set it to normal height and lock the air suspension my holding the up and down buttons down simultaneously for ~ 10 seconds or until the EVIC tells you the suspension is locked. If you don't do this the truck will attempt to level itself when they raise and lower it on the alignment rack which could cause a world of hurt to the alignment tech.... The settings specified should be at auto height and take into account the raising and lowering the system does in normal operation.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

I apologize for reviving an old thread, but I have a wheel alignment question. I just had snow tires installed on my new (i.e., 150 miles on the odometer) 2012 Overland 4x4 V8 with ORA II Package and opted to have a four wheel alignment done at the tire shop. I had to show the guys how to disable the Quadra-Lift. I also told them to them to put the Selec-Trac in Sport to get to Aero Mode before disabling the Quadra-Lift for the alignment, because I recalled reading this (http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/2011-cherokee.html):
Quote:
Chrysler recommends using Sport mode for wheel alignments (Aero mode if you’re doing an alignment using a scan tool.)
Could anyone confirm whether this recommendation is correct? Thanks.

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

The 2011 5th edition of the Owner's Manual does not mention which mode to be in before disabling Quadra-Lift (it does say to disable before changing tires, but does not say what mode to start from). I've used Auto for that.

For an alignment you're right to ask, since it may be more critical.

Yet another reason we need a proper Service Manual. C'mon Jeep!

Re: Quadra-Drive / Alignment

As PECo stated, vehicles with Quadra-lift MUST be in sport mode before you even attempt to begin measuring. On our Wk2's camber, caster, and toe adjustments can be made while all 4 tires remain on the lift runways.

Also, there are a few extra steps that must be taken if the vehicle has ACC as well.

Replied to your question in another alignment thread. Hit me back with the info I asked regarding specifics of your vehicle and I'll email you the specs/process.
