Quadra Lift ride Quality

Hello, I am new to the forum and a prospective Grand Cherokee buyer.

Does the quadra lift have any impact on the normal street ride? Does a Quadra Lift GC ride the same as a non Quadra lift over normal roads and bumps or does it make the ride a little stiffer and bumpier?

I appreciate your opinions and experiences.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

You will probably get varying opinions. I never had a GC without it. To me, at normal road height it felt like other heavy suvs. I like it.

Feels much better than riding on frame, that's for sure. I came from a different brand SUV...suspension to me, is pretty freaking nice in the GC.

I agree here, the air suspension on my '15 HA is extraordinary. My girlfriend who knows NOTHING about cars always comments on how smoothly my GC rides, especially over road imperfections...she has 2014 VW Tiguan and claims the difference is night and day.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

Keep in mind a High Altitude has the sport tuned air suspension vs. all others that have the standard air suspension so the two will ride sightly diffrent

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

I've had both and really didn't notice the difference. 2014 Limited with out and 2015 Overland with. Generally I really like having it, but a lot of folks recommend Max Care plan if you decide to get it because they can have expensive issues when they age. You hear a lot less problems though lately.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

I have Air Suspension and having few 400 miles round trips on highway and driving in city traffic, let me say this...it is fantastic. You may not notice how smooth it is until you go back to driving some other regular suspension vehicle on same roads.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

It's a really good ride. I love the ride quality in my 2015 High Altitude. I will say this, as mentioned above there is a difference in air suspension setups. I had a 2014 Summit which rode good, but it was a bit too floaty for my tastes. I now have a 2015 High Altitide and it's just about perfect. I recently changed to a set of OEM 2016 takeoff wheels with the OE Bridegstone Ecopia tires and they are a bit firm compared to the 2015 and earlier Goodyear Forteras...almost approaching borderline too firm. But it's great I like the slightly sportier feel of the HA suspension.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

Wow! I test drove 2016 a high altitude with the air ride and hated it. It was so bouncy and almost felt uncontrolled. I drove over a speed bump at low speeds (5 mph) and I swear it hit the bump stops. I saw no benefit of the air suspension.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

I love the ride of my quadra lift but felt it was improved by a stiffer a/t tire sidewall.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

My Oh My!!! I could not disagree with you more. I have 2015 Summit and I find the ride to be quite competitive, and in most cases superior to SUVs that it competes with. I also currently own a pickup, a sports sedan and a sports coupe and I find my Summit's ride is very satisfying for a 5000 lb vehicle. It handles well and the highway ride is outstanding! Every single professional automotive test I have read agrees with me. I have owned custom vans to Corvettes, so I think I understand what rides well. If you hate the ride as much as you say, it should make vehicle shopping that much simpler for you. I hope you enjoy what ever your choice is.

Re: Quadra Lift ride Quality

When I test drove before buying, I had to air down the Overland with QL. It was 42-44 psi from the factory, which I understand is not unusual, and bounced all over the place. After getting the psi adjusted, it rode, and handled, much nicer than a limited without QL. After over three years of ownership I'm very happy with QL, and would definitely have it on my next Jeep. Don't tell my wife I said next Jeep, she doesn't know I'm looking.
