For those of us who do not have Overland's or Summits, which seem to be few and far between ;), what have your experiences been so far with the standard 4x4 system?

I just picked up my Laredo a few weeks ago and we have not gotten any snow or ice here in Chicagoland since then and I have not been able to test it out. I was looking to get people's impression on the system. How did it perform in winter weather and has anyone taken it off-road yet?

I apologize if this has been gone over already, but when i did a search there was only 1 thread about it and it was about performance in sand, which I don't plan on doing at any point.

Thanks in advance.

I've used mine in nothing but rain, so I'm no help.
Where I worry is how it's going to do on the farm when I gotta go through mud... grrr. Snow and rain shouldn't be a problem at all. Sand and mud... not so sure about those.

There has been 2 pretty big snow storms since I got my WK2 and QT1 totally kicks a$$ in the snow, slush.

I drove around some lightly flooded/muddy farm fields 2 weeks ago, no issue whatsoever. I turned off ESP so that all tires kept spinning no matter what.

Having the right tires is key though. The Wrangler SilentArmor tires my WK2 is wearing offer killer traction!

I have the Quadra Trac I on my 2008 WK, had this car since new up here in Michigan. No problems with it at all in the snow. I've had a bunch of Grand Cherokees over the years all with SelecTrac plus my daughters Liberty also with SelecTrac and there is absolutely no performance difference between the two systems.

The most noticeable thing is the noise that the brake system makes when the one of the tires start slipping and braking force is applied to the slipping tire. Similar noise when the ABS activates (it has to be, it's the same system).

I have QT I again in my new WK2, but I just got the car so no experience with it on the snow. Hopefully not until next season.
