Drive it before you take someone else's opinion. We won't be driving YOUR Jeep, you will.

Some of us love QL, some prefer a traditional shock suspension--which does have a lot of aftermarket replacement options.

Highway cruising at 90 or so in 100+ degree heat, it is just buzzing along. No overheats, no problems, comfy--sorta like an older Jag sedan.

It is nice to be able to change the vehicle height. Definitely consider it if you have a height challenged spouse, drive in deep snow, or want to rock crawl.
To me it definitely changes the vehicle character, but that may just be because the standard non-QL suspension is middle of the road, not hardcore.

Must be a glutton for punishment, as it is a tad harsh on rough surfaces in park mode.

  • Normal is limited to speeds < 62 mph
...and Aero mode has hysteresis:
'The vehicle will automatically enter Aero Mode when the vehicle speed remains between 62 mph (99 km/h) and 66 mph (106 km/h) for greater than 20 seconds or if the vehicle speed exceeds 66 mph (106 km/h). The vehicle will return to Normal from Aero Mode if the vehicle speed remains between 30 mph (48 km/h) and 35 mph (56 km/h) for greater than 20 seconds or if the vehicle speed falls below 30 mph (48 km/h). The vehicle will enter Aero Mode, regardless of vehicle speed if the shift lever is in the “SPORT” position.'
Minor nitpick, you can go well over 60 at normal height by changing the drive characteristic to snow or similar.

The first time it failed the dealer wanted to rip out my interior in order to check the hoses(!). That would have cost me $2k as that wasn't covered under the warranty. I said "no" and had to get Chrysler involved. I read here on Jeepgarage that it was probably the compressor that went out. So I told the guy to check that but he insisted that it was the hoses. Well, long story short they changed the compressor and that fixed the problem. After that the right rear shock started squeaking. They changed that and not long after the left one started the same thing. That was a year or two ago and I haven't had a problem since.

So, overall I love having Quadra-lift, but expect to do some maintenance eventually.
I have a 2012 overland and the left rear shock is leaking. Tried to replace them both and couldn't find any to buy. There is over 500 on back order with no time of when they will be shipping them. You can't use aftermarket shocks either.

Re: Qudra lift air suspension...?

Sounds like a plan...congrats on your JGC order! The great thing about a factory order is that you can build it like you want it to be...within the available options and packages, that is.

Ah, I was quoting the owner's manual section on QL there. The Select-Terrain section doesn't mention speed limits.

I admit I have never tried to go over 60 mph in Snow mode.

Have you tried driving on pavement at speeds up to 60 mph in Mud and Sand modes with the manual's repeated references to "binding on less forgiving surfaces"? Oh, also it seems this isn't feasible in Rock mode, given that the driver would have to leave the Jeep in 4LO at 60 mph (somehow) in order to avoid dropping back into auto height.

Anyway, suffice it to say: if anyone has a desperate need to control settings, QL may not be right for them because it will practically always override your preference. That said, I love that my Jeep has so much configurability. My personal favorites? Disabling the seat belt chime and the daytime running lights. No hardware hacks required, unlike Toyotas.

I believe that the rear shock are the same on both suspensions. I think the only difference on the rear is the springs.
