Question about 2015 GC

Hey guys, new member here. My wife has a 2015 Grand Cherokee Altitude and had a small wreck in it about 3 months ago. The body shop we brought it to was absolutely terrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The guy estimated it to take about 2 weeks, it actually took 9 weeks. We went up there 6 times to pick it up because "it was done" and every time we found problems with the shotty work. Finally we had to pick it up because they would no longer pay for the rental car. We haven't signed anything on it yet and haven't even paid the $500 deductible so far. We have to bring it back again to fix the last few issues next week. Anyway, when we picked it up she called me within a couple miles saying the steering felt weird. I got in and drove it myself and agreed that it didn't feel right. I popped the hood to check the power steering reservoir and it was completely empty. I immediately drove it back and made them fill it up with fluid. The guy said they had to replace the steering rack cooler by the radiator and they clearly didn't top it off. Anyway, the steering is fine now but my question is do these have any transmission coolers or anything on them as well? Im assuming if they had to replace a tranny cooler they didn't top that off either and I don't want it being driven if it's lost some fluid. I wanted to check the level but apparently these transmissions don't have a dipstick. Thank you very much for your help.

I know right! The damage was pretty minor. A car got over on her and she had to swerve into the right lane to avoid the car, what she didn't realize was there was a truck in that lane that was stopping. The truck she hit had almost no damage. His hitch went through her radiator.

Every car I have owned with an automatic transmission has a cooler that is in or near the radiator. The fluid is cooled by coolant that has passed through the radiator. If they had to replace the steering rack cooler due to the damage you had, I would assume they had to replace the radiator too. If the trans cooler is inside the radiator, that was replaced with it. They would have lost some fluid when they unscrewed the pipe connection to the radiator. If the cooler was outside the radiator, but connected to it, like my BMW, the cooler might be ok. With an external cooler, there would have been no need to unscrew the transmission fluid connections to the cooler, just the coolant lines. My BMW doesn't have a dipstick for the transmission. You can check the level, but you have to get the car up on jacks, turn on the engine, run up the engine and transmission to normal operating temperature, open the fill screw and fill it up with fluid until it runs out. There is a level sensor in the pan to tell you if you are too low. I assume the MOPAR GC trans is the same way, since it's built by FCA under license from ZF, which makes transmissions for a lot of the German car manufacturers. I would get the alignment checked. If you had a lot of damage, you might have frame or suspension part damage that these guys didn't catch. An alignment would show whether the car is straight, at the wheels.
