Question about injectors and misfires

Hi people,
I took my 2012 3.6L Laredo to the dealer today about a CEL light that came on for three days with regards to a P0302 fault code. According to the information I've managed to garner, that means a misfire in cylinder 2. According to my OBD 2 scanner there is now a pending P0302 fault code.
The dealer just called and informed me that the first step they have to do is clean the injectors and since this is not under warranty I will have to pay (almost 300 bucks).
Is their diagnosis legit? The car has 25,600 kms (almost 15,000 miles). And if it was dirty injectors, how come there was no P02XX fault codes thrown?
I would appreciate any insight. It's easy to get ripped off here.

See a different dealer. They are trying to rip you off, no doubt about that. If your feeling argumentative you could call chrysler customer care and see what they say about it. That is a known issue with this motor and there are good odds that it will need a new cylinder head. Or you could pay for the cleaning but get it in writing that if it doesn't fix it they pay for it. I would go with option 1 however.

Spoke with the service manager. Basically came to an understanding that if they insist on cleaning the injectors and it doesn't cure the problem, then I don't have to pay a dime. He's also going to do a compression leak down test...
I also shot an e-mail to Chrysler Customer care in Dubai letting them know of the situation and my opinion of the dealer's diagnosis. Let's see if they answer. If they don't, I'll just pick up the phone and call Chrysler in the states. We only have two dealers in Bahrain, and the one who has my Jeep is the better of the two.

Just got a call from the service manager at my dealership. They performed a leak down test and basically the pressure was low, almost "non-existant" as he put it. The tappets were also shot, apparently. So I'm getting the head left hand side replaced. I'm glad that they didn't give me the run around.
Thanks loveracing1988 for confirming my suspicions about the dirty injectors and how they are not the cause of misfires in this scenario. This made me even firmer in stressing the need for a compression test and not paying for the injector cleaning if it doesn't resolve the issue.
Funny thing is when I took the car in on Saturday, next to the service bay by the spare parts section, there were three crates, each about 4 meters in length, 2 in width and about 80 cms in height with the documentation stuck stating they were cylinder heads. Part number started with R and ended with AC denoting the new heads.
Thanks goes out to padgett for his advice on getting an OBD2 scanner in an earlier thread.
Honestly feel that if it wasn't for this forum, the repair process might have been delayed. But armed by the info garnered here has made this repair/fix easier and smoother to obtain.
I'm also glad Chrysler stepped up to the plate and manned up.

Ha ha!! I feel like this thread is turning into the equivalent of my personal facebook wall!!
That said, Chrysler Middle East just replied to the e-mail I had sent asking for assitance last Saturday when I was in the "clean injectors" debacle with my dealer:
"Hope the concern regarding your vehicle was resolved satisfactorily by Griffin Lewis.

We appreciate your valuable comments and hoping to look forward to be at your service always.

Chrysler Group Middle East"

So I guess even though they did not respond to my e-mail immediately, they went to work behind the scenes. Their customer satisfaction rating just shot up in my books.

Haven't received the Jeep yet, but will post once I do to give my impressions on how she handles after the fix.

I should also mention that after I bought my Jeep by like a month or two, I received a letter (real genuine letter - not an e-mail) from Chrysler Middle East congratulating me on my purchase and welcoming me to the Jeep family. Never received that from the makers of my past cars.

One of those days.......
Just got a call from the dealership. Car is almost ready. However...... one of their techs smashed my windscreen. Now they have to replace it (their insurance policy).........
the evil eye?

Anyone have any tips what I should make sure of when they do to insure that it has been replaced correctly?

Well, got the head repaired (and the windshield - but that's another story). Been driving it about for over a month now and she's pretty smooth. Back to her old self. I can hear like two or three clicks (lifters I suppose) on a cold start but the moment the oil starts flowing they're gone. Had to re-adapt her to my lead foot, she was fussy at first, but then we got along just fine!

I can't believe a new car like this already needed a cylinder head replacement. What's up with all the bad heads?

Where are Jeep engines manufactured?

My Hemi had a stupid clicking noise too from the engine. Idle started getting rough after 10K miles at idle. Couple of times the jeep wouldn't start when pushing the button.

I traded the Jeep last week.

What was causing the specific cylinder head problem (assuming it was cracked), and was it resolved in the newer Jeeps?
