Automatic highbeam?

Do you mean AFS where the headlights turn with you as you are turning the vehicle?

I thought that was only available in the Summit and SRT versions. Could be wrong though. Or just everything I'm saying if you mean something else by automatic highbeams...

Re: Question for Potential Buyer

Auto highbeam "sees" oncoming traffic and other factors and automatically changes from high to low beams as appropriate. The adaptive headlights on Summit are additional features.

Oh cool, thats pretty sweet.

The longer I have my Altitude, the more Iwish I got an Overland. (I love the looks of my Altitude, but there are ALOT of cool features on the Overland)

Problem is I had such a short time span to purchase the vehicle I didn't get to do enough research until a month after buying it LOL

The altitude only comes in black or white? That's what one dealership told me

Re: Question for Potential Buyer

The really interesting thing is that my grandmother's Caddie from the late 1950s/early 1960s had auto high-beams with an electric eye thing on the dashboard. It was styled to match the fins and, um...breast-like...things on the front bumper.

That would be wrong. It comes in six colors..."build" one on jeep.com to see what the options are.

Re: Question for Potential Buyer

how do you know if the auto dim feature is actually working? I think that feature might be broken on mine. it's checked off in the settings panel, but I never saw it actually switch to low beams in oncoming traffic, so I gave up a while back and just manually switch back and forth. I have a limited with lux2 ora2 diesel.

Auto dim is enabled by pulling on the headlight stalk.
I don't recall a UConnect setting, but I could be wrong.

It is actually called automatic high beams.

Ah, you mean the old Caddy "Jane Russell" bumpers...
Somebody else autobeam back then too, don't recall if the Desoto did or not, too lazy to Google.

Works pretty similar to todays... I don't recall where the sensor is--think is on back of mirror--but if you put a dash cover up while your lights are on, it will turn on the high beams if they are enabled with the stalk.

Re: Question for Potential Buyer

Yes, the auto-dim is in the back of the mirror. I enjoy it...and have to remember to do it manually when I'm in my other half's Outback... LOL

Re: Question for Potential Buyer

You could move to Australia? All the new GCs sold here come with the HID/DRL lights and a reversing camera…

… having said that we also have stupid taxes on cars. A 4x4 Laredo starts at $48k. On second thoughts maybe stay there and treat yourself to an Overland!
