Question for you WK2 guys that tow

I'm gonna have to buy a new brake controller and figured I'd venture over here and see if any of you guys have heard about or are using this new fangled Tuson Direclink brake control. http://direclink.webplus.net/direclink.html I was all set to buy a Tekonsha P3 to replace my Agility till I saw this thing. The thing is $340 though so I'd like to know if all the promises are true. Thanks guys.

Re: Question for you WK2 guys that tow

Certainly is an interesting device and it logically makes sense from a design perspective. I wonder how it would react to how the tow vehicle's computer applies braking independently for things like sway control, however.

Personally, I'm very happy with my P3...but as a gadget person, the DirectLink sure is intriguing!

Re: Question for you WK2 guys that tow

Jim I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it gets that deep into the
system as far as sway control. Now the NE version may get more involved because it's capable of running a separate trailer antilock system plus electric over hydraulic. I have a Hopkins Agility now and I need more initial braking from the trailer in slow speed stop and go traffic.Stoplight to stoplight my rear brakes tend to heat up unless I manually lead in with the trailer brakes. I know the P3 addresses this but this thing just has me curious.

Re: Question for you WK2 guys that tow

See, that would be my concern with the DirectLink since the JGC is going to apply brakes independently for sway compensation, if I understood the Jeep description correctly. I'd want to question them at length about it before putting out the big-bucks!

I'm a relative newbie to brake controllers, so I'm just trying to think logically here...which sometimes gets me into trouble. LOL

Here's a 8 pages of replies on this controller posted on the Airstream forums:

DirecLink Brake controller... - Airstream Forums

Note that there is a lot of good tech info as the software guy that works with the manufacturer has chimed in.
