Question to all with trailer towing package

My 2011 3.6 GJC came with the trailer towing package, it is listed on the build sheet, she has the factory hitch, and the Light & Brake connectors work so the computer is programmed to activate them.

But, I don't have a Tow/Haul button on the center dash buttons.
It is shown in the owners manual, but not specifically as part of the trailer towing package, just how and when to use it.

So, what I'm looking for is:

How many of you have it?
Is it an option? Or did someone screw up building my Jeep?
Is it simply adding the button and reflashing the system?

I'm looking at a 3K Lb trailer w/electric brakes, plan to get a WDH, and am wondering why the button is blank where tow/haul goes.

thanks in advance!

Re: Question to all with trailer towing package

I could be mistaken, but I think that for MY11-13, the "tow haul" button was only on the V8.

You're not mistaken, that is correct.

Re: Question to all with trailer towing package

OK, thanks for the replies.
I was hoping that it was missed or could be added.
Guess I'll just have to shift manually or let her do her own thing.

Thanks!

Re: Question to all with trailer towing package

I suggest driving in sport mode as it holds the gears and engine brakes. Especially with the 8-speed.

A 2011 doesn't have an 8-speed.

I'm well aware of this but the 8 speed coasts more freely slowing while towing is much more strenuous on the brakes if you don't have it in sport mode.

This is just a general tip for those with the v6 without a tow haul button.

Yes, but he bought a 2011 so that doesn't help him.

It 100% helps him. This is a tip for both 2011-2013 or 2014+ wk2's. Sport mode for towing if you don't have a tow haul button.

Re: Question to all with trailer towing package

If I'm around hills I will keep it in sport mode... prepare for some manual downshifts from 3rd to 2nd when you hit a hill though...

I understand what sport mode does. I was merely pointing out that a 2011 doesn't have an 8-speed transmission.

Re: Question to all with trailer towing package

Don't know if this helps any,but figured I would add to the forum hoping it helps put concerns of the original post to rest.I have a 2011 JGC Laredo and have frequently towed a car trailer with either a Chevy 1500 or an old Dodge 2500 (a favor to a friend who is restoring them) and also a boat trailer with a Bayliner on it (since sold) and never had any issues, only thing I will note is I did change gears manually up hill as I could feel my Jeep struggle alittle and I do mean alittle,so figured I would help it along. But never really been concerned about towing anything as it does well with whatever it tows.I AM anal about trailer maintenance as the biggest problem (when using friends or rental equipment) with any occasional towing is poor trailer brake and bearing, along with tire condition.I DO only speak from personal experience so am not making any note in general so please,no one be offended. Just saying the V6 pulls fine and only problems have been poor trailer maintenance.I guess I spend a few hundred $$$ each year on my trailer for upkeep.
