Talking Questioning extended warranty

I've never bought an extended warranty but am considering it based on the tech in the car ('15 Overland Diesel). I just don't know how much is reasonable to pay? I'm in Canada and wouldn't consider anything but the Chrysler option (no third party). Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

Technically, isn't the Chrysler one offered by a third party?

They are a good idea if you plan to keep it a long time lots of stuff to break on these. I paid $2100 for maxcare lifetime two years ago but i know prices have gone up. Diesels unfortunately cant get the lifetime. Try ziegler they will give you an idea of what a reasonable price is. Not sure how they may differ in Canada. Definitely stay away from the third party they can be a nightmare.

Not in the US...Mopar is part of FCA.

As already said about Mopar/FCA, the online sources are actually operating dealerships who have just chosen to all sell at lower margin for higher volume via a DBA named online storefront.

The flakey sites all sell true third party, non-Mopar/FCA plans from companies of varying repute.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

We have less options up here and pay more $ for warranties. I ended up with the gold warranty purchased through the dealer on my 15 diesel. What yrs/kms are you looking to get? There is room to negotiate on these but the dealer you bought from is likely the best bet to start with pricing and go from there.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

I'm seriously trying to scrape up some money to buy an extended warranty for the 2012 Laredo X I just picked up after reading about all the problems people are experiencing on this board. In fact, you guys are probably THE best advertising for extended warranties! It's funny since the dealership kept going on and on about how reliable Jeeps were and then while doing the financing they about face and start pushing their extended warranty! I declined then, but now I think that might have been unwise.

I may have to change dealerships too, I have it in the shop to replace a disintegrated drivers side washer sprayer nozzle and they wanted to charge me $58 for it until I politely reminded them it was still under the factory warranty. "Ooops, sorry about that, it wasn't written up that way - you're right, no charge..." Ya right.

-D.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

I would not own a Chrysler product without an extended warranty. I'm at 70,000 miles on my 2011 and have already used the extended warranty for $1300 in repairs.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

I really like mine and plan on keeping it as long as I can but lets face it, it's a Chrysler. I got the lifetime.

Re: Questioning extended warranty

I bought the lifetime "added care plus" but have a lot of at-home repair capability. Covers the big things. Was about $500 less expensive and $100 deductable will cover a lot of light bulbs.

Only issue is transferability. Florida is saying "yes" and Chrysler is saying "no". Will find out if it ever leaves.

What state is the issuing/selling dealer in?

I just got mine through CarMax and the MaxCare was roughly that price for 5 years. Prices have definitely increased
