Questions:

1. When placed in "snow" mode, to which wheels is the power being sent? Is there power going to each wheel? If slip is detected what happens? In other words, I'd like to know how the power is sent and distributed, and what happens if slip is detected for each "mode" you can set the car in.

2. Any new colors for 2012?

3. Overall, how reliable has this car been?

4. Any word on when the Diesel will appear? and how about the 8 speed transmission? (I'm dying to get this vehicle, but I'm trying to wait it out until the new tranny is available!)

Re: Questions:

Quadra Drive or no?

Basically power goes to all wheels. Computer system senses slip and uses transfer case and rear dif clutches (if equiped) to bias torque for best traction and uses brakes to slow any tires that slip. It also may restrict engine power. Snow mode is basically more power management on top of the normal stuff; tyranny starts in second gear too.

I’m sure there’s a page on wk2jepps.com that has more detailed description, but the computer program that controls it all is proprietary, so getting good info on what it specifically does is not that straightforward.

There are several threads here discussing your other questions, I dunno the short answers off hand.

Re: Questions:

The normal power split front to rear is 52/48 snow mode makes it 50/50.

No kidding? I never knew tyranny started in second gear.
I wonder what happens if it started in 1st?

Diesel is set to appear by 2013 (hasn't been determined if that's MY13 or MY 14).

8-spd for the V-6 is confirmed for 2013. No confirmation on when the 8-spd will be mated to the HEMI (I would assume 2014).

Re: Questions:

Starting in 2nd gear in snow reduces spinning wheels off the line due to less torque. Wife's Volvo XC-70 (POS!) has the same snow feature as a button. As a matter of fact they told us this in driver's ed. in 1967.
