Yeah, I would love to know how you can get 20mpg in the city! Just driving from stop light to stop light nets about 12-13 mpg with the V6

city driving for some may be totally different to someone else. Stop Lights every block or lights every couple miles.

Same here in Brooklyn/Manhattan. I don't recall I ever even saw 13MPG. 3,000 miles on the vehicle.

Re: Real World MPG for the V6 and 8

with all these good mileage readings - & i only get 15-16 mpg (mostly city, flat, V6), there must be something wrong with my jeep. yeah, highway only nets me about 21 mpg but, to average that during mixed driving has me worried. i'm a lead foot but come on!!

Re: Real World MPG for the V6 and 8

I average 14-16 mpg in suburban/city driving and 21-23 highway, with 4500 miles on my V6 and no matter how easy I drive or slow, I never get better then 16 mpg suburban/city driving. It is mostly aroung 15mpg.

Re: Real World MPG for the V6 and 8

Average 19 mpg, almost only city/ heavy traffic, lot of stoplights.
7000 km, V6 4x4.
What helps for me to get better fuel consumption is getting of the gas early on approaching traffic/stoplights.

Re: Real World MPG for the V6 and 8

I average 13-14 driving in my neighborhood. I normally drive 1 mile to the gym then 1 mile home. Sometimes take it a mile or 2 to the store.

When I drive to Tahoe which is about 60 miles, from 600 ft to 7500 ft then back I average 20-21 mpg.

I only use 87 gas.

Re: Real World MPG for the V6 and 8

What passes for "City" driving varies quite a bit. Living here in Phoenix, we have many stretches where you can go a mile between stoplights - or if there is a 1/2 mile light it's biased toward the major road which means you rarely get stopped. Many lights here are also timed, so if you drive in light traffic at the engineered speed you might go several miles before having to stop at a red light.

It's a stark contrast when I go back to the Eastern seaboard - it seems like there are many more stoplights.
