Apologies. Here is my very own thread on my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited.

I hope this gives me a little more credence and relevance.

Re: Really?!?!...

Oh, and in case you don't want to read all 13 pages or whatever is now, basically my dealer has had my Jeep more days than I have. Twice it popped out of gear and died while driving (once after they supposedly "fixed" it). All that was fixed by finding a loose ground -- but not before it destroyed the ABS module, which they replaced.

Now it's in for "Service 4WD System" perhaps more destroyed by the loose ground that I drove on for 350 miles. At least, that's what we brought it in for. Since we haven't heard from the dealer since last Tuesday and they told us "don't call us, we'll call you," my guess is that they found something else that they're trying to "fix" now.

Meanwhile, we're in a lovely Dodge Grand Caravan that smells funny that we're paying $450 a month for.

You should not read any forums then, as you will never find a place where everyone is happy about their cars.
It has been said to death on every car forum, that you cannot judge the reliability of a car based on a very small % of owners, many who find these places when they do have a problem.
As for the service adviser steering you clear of the '14, he may have just had a bad day. It is still way to early to tell the quality of this model, but going by any mass produced product, there will be issues. Just hope they are not common.
If it was just a few posts that would be fine but the fact of the matter is that the majority{more than 50%} of 2014 have experienced problems of some kind. If I was in any way part of Jeep or Chrysler I would be embarrassed to sell the quality product that they do. Then to add insult to injury they want to charge premium prices for it.

wtf? Where in the world do you get the concept that the majority of 2014 owners have problems? LOL. If 50% of ANY car company was getting problems on a specific model and year it would be all over the place publicly. This board doesn't represent the majority of owners at all.

Re: Really?!?!...

My 2012 was problem free and my 2013 has been problem free. When I was deciding on another Summit, I looked at the 14's and read up before deciding. Happy I went with a 2013. From someone that has owned a ML350, Q5 and now a Touareg TDI, the Jeep is nice and a good bang for the buck but nowhere near the quality of the European models. After all it's just a Jeep.

If it is more than 50% of owners with problems, there would be a massive public outcry and Jeep would not be selling any more cars and I expect they would go out of business quickly.
Before you go throwing imaginary figures around, I suggest you find some evidence.
It is very easy to assume things are worse than they really are as people on here are complaining.

Even if you did just look at this forum ... Currently the '2014 owner's review' poll shows 92% voting happy or better.

Re: Really?!?!...

Over 50% of the 14's do not have issues, that's a pretty crazy statement to make. Not everybody that has a 14' is on this forum.

I don't have any problems with my 14' and i would never get a 13' over a 14' just because there's a few out there with serious problems. This can happen with any make or model and it does. Especially when there is a redesign.

Question Re: Really?!?!...

If you have such a bad opinion of jeeps why are you wasting your time here?

I had a 2005, and then bought a 2008 Grand Cherokee that I beat the heck out of. Never had an issue that my dealer could not fix for free. I use them to tow a 4500 lb boat. Use it to go offroad as much as possible (I live in the Arizona desert). I also have an extremely heavy lead foot. I challenge you to abuse a vehicle like I do. Maybe you are doing business with the wrong dealer?

Once I hit a tire and rim on the road at 80 mph an blew out the two right side tires. Not only did I fail to flip the vehicle (as the DPS officer said I should have) it did not even suffer rim damage. Do that in a _____ SUV.!!

Buy what you want, but even knowing of the info center issues I took my 50k and ordered a fully loaded limited.

Nuff said.

Re: Really?!?!...

The problem I see, which may not be unique to Jeep, is that the dealers don't have a way to actually diagnose problems. Even when they check the codes that the computer spits out, the solution is a guessing game.

My first visit was due to all warning lights coming on, loss of speedometer and QL. The dealer, based on the computer, cleaned up a ground (star report). When the problem came back Jeep told the dealer that the only thing that would "probably" throw so many codes is a bad PCM. They are sending one 'and hope' this solves the problem.

Another couple of problems having to do with dash info and QL left the dealer puzzled. They opened a Star report and were told that someone would get pack to them in a few days.

While I am still able to drive the car, none of the problems have been resolved. I hesitate to go out on the beach (the reason I bought the Jeep) because I don't know what will be next. During the week I can be the only vehicle around.

Re: Really?!?!...

The point is that two people (amc & bill) on the forum have reported issues with '14s consistant with voltage "anomalies" that can result from a bad ground. One problem is that there is no way of knowing what components have been stressed and may fail in the near future. There may be a statistical multiplier of reports here vs total instances.

While I stongly doubt 50%, even a 5% rate is significant.

The current recall appears to be on the Quadra-Trac II in the WK1 shifting into neutral as a result of a defective circuit board. I suspect this may result in a revision of the BTSI provision of FMVSS 114. This has been required since 2010 on all light vehicles.

Yes, but did you notice you can't retract your vote once you vote? At least I haven't been able to find a way to do that.

So you can pull one out of the "great" column and put it into the "POS" column.
